Position Description:
The Compliance, Risk and Governance Technology organization provides IT support to the Morgan Stanley Legal and Compliance division.
The IT organization among other things is responsible for the support of the Firm's Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) programs. The AML and OFAC programs are supported by an application suite that enables surveillance of firm and client activity, customer identification, as well as ensuring the Firm's compliance with the PATRIOT Act, and various other regulatory requirements.
The AML and OFAC application suite includes an enterprise-wide third-party web-based work-flow system extended with custom MS-Flex applications, an enterprise-wide third-party transaction screening application, a custom Java-based transaction monitoring system, Java/JSP/HTML applications, and SOAP-based services among other things.
For this position a person will be expected to support existing and new initiatives within the AML/OFAC suite of applications. Initiatives include customizations for evolving business needs as well as architectural and infrastructure improvements. Activities include designing, implementing, testing, deploying of Java/VTL/Flex code following department SDLC standards.
As an AML/OFAC developer, you will be working with various technologies including Java, Tomcat, DB2, Sybase and vendor software Actimize and Accuity, and Open Source Java technologies -- such as Spring, JSP, XSL. The AML/OFAC applications process large volumes of disparate data to detect and alert on a variety of suspicious activities. The team incorporates Agile methodologies including Test Driven Development and Continuous Integration in its development processes.

Skills Required:
- High-quality software architecture and design methodologies and patterns, such as SOA, Layered Architecture, and Component-based Architecture.
- Design Patterns, preferably GoF set of patterns.
- Experience with core J2SE programming including J2SE 6.0.
- XML and XML technologies including SAX, DOM, XSL, and SOAP.
- XSLT transformations.
- Data access APIs such as JDBC.
- Web technologies such as Tomcat/Apache, JSP, Servlets, and Struts framework.
- SQL and relational database concepts
- Eclipse IDE
- Source control system (Perforce)
- Linux and Shell Scripts
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professional approach

Additional requirements for internal candidates:

- MSJava tools including ToolsDB, HDOM, JXB, etc.
- Understanding of MSDE environment
