Fitch Ratings is seeking to add a highly motivated commercial real estate finance professional in either the New York City or Chicago office to analyze and develop credit opinions on new CMBS transactions.

External Job Description

The ideal candidate will be involved in all aspects of the ratings process for commercial mortgage-backed securities and communicating Fitch's credit opinions through published commentary and research on transactions, trends and industry issues. Initially, the candidate will be responsible for quantitative analysis employing Fitch's models and criteria while developing an in-depth understanding of cash flow analysis of the major property types. With experience and training, the candidate will be the lead analyst on transactions, will present effective credit opinions to credit committees, senior managers and investors and will produce engaging and topical research.

Responsibilities
- Run computer models to analyse new transactions
- Develop an understanding of credit in commercial real estate finance through cash flow analysis, site visits, meetings with borrowers and property valuations.
- Analyze credit characteristics of loan and bond structures
- Use quantitative skills to analyze loan level and industry trends
- Assist with pre-sale reports, rating commentaries and research reports

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Up to 5 years direct experience underwriting or valuing commercial real estate
- Expertise in Excel and Word
- Strong analytical, quantitative and, organizational skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to shift fluidly between multiple projects as priorities change
- MBA or other advanced degree a plus
- Securitization, capital markets or employee management experience a plus
