Center of Expertise in Economic Modeling and Studies, CEEMS, located in Paris and Brussels, helps GDF SUEZ to better understand and manage its strategic and operational challenges in ever more complex energy markets. Servicing all entities of the Group, it provides leading edge competencies in microeconomics, industrial economics, econometrics, statistics, financial mathematics, applied mathematics and algorithmic computation.
SEER is currently seeking an (Experienced) Analyst to carry out the aforementioned services. The scope of work will be the undertakings in the European countries, as well as prospective studies in the field of energy, environment and economy to breed innovative aspects in our established practices.
Mission
Under the lead of a Chief Analyst, or a Project Manager, as the (Experienced) Analyst, you are instrumental in developing, organizing and delivering the agreed economic analyses requested by the business entities. Together with the team, and in good intelligence with all the stakeholders, you shall:
- team up with local businesses to compile market knowledge in order to develop structured market analyses; continuously improve and substantiate the understanding of market fundamentals for electricity, gas, other fuels, emissions, green certificates, etc. and advise the business units on these topics
- contribute to the regular provision of market price references for illiquid products and maintain the documentation of the assumptions thereof
- apply appropriate simulation techniques and risk valuation methods to assess market and strategic risks for projects and portfolio of assets
- support our teams in improving the modeling and pricing of uncertainty in various market paradigms and facilitate the integration of suitable state of the art tools into the analysis of requests from operational units and strategy
- actively cross-breed with his/her peers across the company on all the aforementioned topics

Profiles
- you have a university degree in engineering or economics
- you have a proven academic track record in financial modeling, stochastic programming and computational stochastic equilibrium combined with the ability to implement it in an industrial context
- you have a good understanding of the engineering, economics and financial fundamentals of the energy business, with 3+ years of industry experience and/or in a quantitative analytical role
- you are able to structure market analysis and present the conclusions to middle or senior management
- you desire to actively close the gap between state-of-the-art approaches and everyday concerns of operational business entities
- you have a good team spirit and communication skills
- you comfortably work in cross-functional and mutli-cultural organizations
- you are fluent in English and one of the languages spoken in Belgium; the knowledge of other European languages is an asset
- you are prepared for regular traveling in Europe (ca 10 to 20% of the time) and worldwide occasionally
