Analyst – Commodities & FX – Market Risk recruitment

 The Client:

The firm's headquarters are in London, with offices in Hong Kong and New York and the firm continues to grow rapidly, either organically or by acquisition, making this one of the most dynamic and progressive trading houses in London.

The Role:  

Joining a team of 15 in the Risk Department, you will principally be responsible for the daily risk management for trading activity of both proprietary and external clients trading, PL and positions to mitigate risk and protect the Company’s capital.

DUTIES:

Key responsibilities:

• Intraday monitoring and management of trader limits, leverage, positions and PL

• Discrepancies and trade transfer request approval

• Managing any permissions of external brokerage within agreed trading parameters

• Continual interaction with traders, instilling confidence in their ability, and pulling them into line if they begin to show signs of trading outside the parameters set out by Risk or the Trader Managers

• Monitoring of overnight exposure and margin requirements

• Setting out the initial guide lines and parameters in which a new account is required to trade, their limits and how these will increase / decrease over the period

• Ensuring all emergency procedure guidelines are carried out correctly, and with minimum disruption to traders. This includes, pulling resting orders at the relevant Exchange; informing trader of their position and broking out of their position if they are unable to do so themselves

• Producing routine daily reports and ad-hoc reports as necessary. Investigating and explaining reasons for changes in figures.

• Ensuring traders are within set parameters at COB and escalating any concerns.

• Reconciliation with outside clearing clients ensuring that they are within parameters at COB

• End of day position, PL and Margin summaries communicating that with the team

• Understanding VaR principles and using systems to calculate and explain proprietary and client VaR results.

• The Company may require you to carry out other duties from time to time

The Candidate:

• Flexible team player

• High level of Relationship, Communication and Reporting skills for client base.

• Knowledge of Trading Systems used includes front end platforms such as TT, RTS, Stellar, Bloomberg, CQG

• Emergency Procedures – dealing with system failures for clients. Pulling orders/reducing traders exposure at local and exchange level. Execution and Brokerage of trader positions, clear and concise relations with traders, keeping calm under pressurised environments.

• Excellent back-office knowledge. Knowledge of Rolfe and Nolan beneficial.

• Excellent Trading knowledge of Futures, Options, FX/CFD’s/Cash Bonds. Trading experience not essential but advantageous. Markets covered include LIFFE/EUREX/CME/CBOT/IPE.

• Troubleshooting/Analytical Skills

• Degree in a mathematical subject preferable

• Understanding of option valuation models including Black-Scholes and numerical methods

• Understanding of Value-at-Risk methodologies

• Strong excel and VBA skills preferable.
