Role Purpose
- The role is key to quantifying and assessing the risk profile of the Division or assigned portfolio. Achieving this will include implementing and monitoring models used to quantify and analyse risk and providing in-depth assessments of the models used
- Assist with data quality issues; specifically:
- Assurance of the accuracy and appropriateness of model inputs
- Calculation and reporting of data quality metrics
- Analysis and resolution of data quality issues
- Support the delivery, maintenance and development of ratings systems to ensure calculation and delivery of capital figures to defined specifications
- Analyse and understand the key drivers of Capital and support effective RWA and Capital reporting efficiencies.
- Assist in the documentation of processes and procedures and controls around the production of UBG Group Capital data for reporting and forecasting
- Communicate with the Risk Models team to understand the construct and performance of the Capital models
- Assist in development of new techniques to help improve capability to forecast capital requirements.
- Support all prioritised Group projects as required
Major Activities and Responsibilities
- Under supervision, provides support to Risk colleagues and business leaders on the appropriate use of quantitative modelling tools for assessing risk across the RBS portfolio. Tests methods to ensure validity and reliability.
- Under supervision, reviews and analyses the use and applicability of sophisticated calculation methodologies within an assigned business area.
- Under supervision, performs research and analysis associated with proposed changes/enhancements in modelling approaches in response to regulatory concerns, new policy development / implementation, and/or changing business requirements
Skills and Experience Required
Essential Criteria:
- Previous relevant experience (e.g. people management) and type of work relevant to the role (eg application or development of business systems or processes). Include formal qualification and expected post qualified experience as well as Technical knowledge required.
- Experience in Programming (preferably SAS)
- Proficiency in Microsoft systems in particular Excel
- Good analytical skills with the ability to produce good quality and accurate output
- Strong Communication Skills
- Strong time management and organisational skills to work to strict deadlines
- Analytical approach to problem solving.
Desirable Criteria:
- Analytical. Reviews and interprets information to monitor and analyse the risk associated with models and process within assigned areas.
- Problem Identification and Solving Skills. Challenges assumptions, identifies key issues and escalates as appropriate.
- Project Management Skills. Participates on Risk project team. Is responsible for using project management skills to ensure high-quality and timely results.
- Relationship Management. Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships across the Group. Provide constructive contributions to internal working groups and risk committees where appropriate.
- Influencing Gains agreement with key stakeholders to execute against goals and outcomes. Redirects resistance by clarifying intentions behind positions and developing workable solutions.
- Communication Has strong verbal and report writing skills. Has the confidence to interact with all internal and external stakeholders. Consistently considers stakeholders' needs and strives to find workable solutions.
