We currently have an exciting full time opportunity for an Analyst to join the Diversified Funds Management team.
Reporting to the Head of Equities, this position will be responsible for assisting the Portfolio Managers with the day-to-day management and oversight of the portfolios and new research initiatives. It is envisaged that the successful candidate will work closely with Portfolio Managers and Associate Portfolio Managers in delivering the key responsibilities of the role.
The key responsibilities of the Analyst role include:
- assisting with research and analysis of new asset class opportunities which will improve portfolio and product outcomes, and produce concise written documentation;
- sourcing and structuring data;
- assisting with assessing implementation strategies for gaining beta exposures taking into account fees, tax and capital efficiency;
- monitoring existing beta exposures and producing accurate performance reports;
- monitoring economic and asset class market conditions
To succeed in this role you will be a reliable team member, a self starter with a natural enthusiasm for and academic exposure to international economics, financial markets and the drivers of publicly traded markets (bonds, equities, currencies) at both the macro and micro levels.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Tertiary graduate degree with a specialisation in Finance, Business, Economics or related discipline
- A passion for and high level of economics and mathematical aptitude and quantitative skills
- Strong interpersonal, relationship management and communication skills – both written and verbal
- Demonstrated ability to work productively as a member of a team, to contribute, influence and achieve outcomes
- High levels of initiative, planning and time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal direction
- Attention to detail, and an ability to apply a systematic approach to routine tasks
- The ability and desire to participate in a wide variety of projects, act as project leader when the opportunity arises and a strong desire to enhance your skill set across a broad front.
Previous experience in the financial services or related industry, together with CFA/FINSIA/CPA or other finance related post-graduate qualification would be highly regarded.
The ideal candidate will have previous demonstrated experience as an investment analyst in a front office funds management area and will have the ability to work independently in a high performing environment. Experience and understanding of performance, risk management and compliance functions are an advantage.
