Analyst Green Investment Bank
An initial three billion pounds of government funding has been allocated for investment until April 2015. These investments will be made on market terms with the GIB targeting a ‘double bottom line’ of both achieving significant green impact and making financial returns. The GIB is now looking to hire a number of Analysts in London or Edinburgh.
The priority sectors for the GIB will initially be:
- Offshore wind power generation
- Waste processing and recycling
- Energy from waste
- Non-domestic energy efficiency including on-site renewables
- Support for the Green Deal
but will also execute transactions in other sectors, including biofuels, carbon capture and storage etc.
The GIB is able to offer flexible, bespoke financing solutions to selected projects. It has the flexibility to provide a full suite of debt, mezzanine, equity, and guarantees, together with the scope to develop new products.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Assist senior members of the Transaction Management team in the analysis and evaluation of transactions, including financial modelling, due diligence, writing reports to Investment Committee and Board, compliance with GIB’s policies and procedures etc.
- Assist senior members of the Transaction Management team in the negotiation with clients of transactions.
- Together with the Sector teams, help monitor the GIB sectors, the participants, sponsors etc with a view to tracking current and future investment opportunities and understanding market risk profile.
- Together with the Sector Teams, monitor and track existing investors/co-investors in the GIB sectors, pricing margins, terms etc.
- Working alongside the portfolio management team, monitor key investment performance data from existing investments in the sector(s).
- Provide analysis as required of the above markets to support Investment Committee papers, external presentations etc.
- Prepare and maintain powerpoint slides for internal and external presentations.
- Working with Green Policy teams within GIB, track and summarise policy and legislative developments in the [two] sector(s); understand the analysis of Green Impact reporting.
- Maintain and develop relationships with other government departments / agencies as necessary to secure high quality, timely information.
- Assisting as required in origination and monitoring activities.
The successful candidates will have:
- A University Degree and 1-3 years relevant work experience at another investment banking environment, relevant industry or consultancy
- Strong qualitative and quantitative valuation/analytical skills
- Excellent problem solving and analytic ability
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A self-motivated, committed work ethic and a drive for perfection as well as keen attention to detail
- Strong data management and research skills
- Ability to perform under deadline pressure
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
