Analyst III - Macro Surveillance

Note:  Multiple Grade Posting - Grade 52/53.  The description below reflects the duties and responsibilities of the Grade 53.
 
Responsibilities:
• Plans, conducts, and directs research and assignments on difficult projects with minimal supervision. Collects data relevant to Third District financial institutions and the banking industry from a variety of sources, including published reports and computerized databases. Maintains and uses automated information systems on the banking industry to support statistical analysis, periodic reports, and responses to ad hoc inquiries from within the department. Performs financial, statistical, and econometric analysis using statistical and financial software applications. Prepares briefs on emerging issues for business unit management.
• Maintains knowledge by monitoring and evaluating trends and developments in the banking industry and its regulatory environment. Stays abreast of relevant regulations, interpretations, and legislation, and analyzes emerging issues affecting the banking industry. Analyzes sources of systemic risk within the industry as they apply to Third District institutions. Conducts specialized research on topics concerning the banking industry and supervisory framework.
• Prepares written reports on important issues for business unit management. Presents ideas and research findings to other appropriate audiences. Interacts with professional colleagues in the department as needed to gather information for inclusion in reports.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in business area or equivalent experience in bank supervision, banking, or a finance-related field is required.
• Three to five years experience in bank supervision, banking, or finance-related field is required.
• Strong knowledge of SAS or SQL is required.
• Completion and/or enrollment in the examiner training program as specified by the Board of Governors is preferred.

• Strong time management skills.
• Strong PC skills, using standard Bank word processing, spreadsheet, and Mainframe applications.
• An applicant for employment also must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or hold a permanent resident/green card with intent to become a U.S. Citizen.
