Investment Bank Business Advisory, Treasury and Analytics is a function of the IB Chief Financial Officer whose scope was recently expanded due to the current operating environment being characterized by considerable regulatory uncertainty and constrained financial resources which necessitates a greater focus on forward looking analysis and insight. Optimization of financial resources has become an increasingly important process and will provide a competitive advantage in our marketplace necessitating the development of our modelling and forecasting skills.
Within this new function we are looking for an Analyst (Investment Bank Performance Analytics) to support the Head of IB Revenue Business Drivers Analysis in Hong Kong. This is a new broad-ranging role which will initially focus on high level analysis of revenue drivers across the Investment Bank as well as developing the existing Balance Sheet Velocity analysis to incorporate other business drivers at a more detailed level.
This role will combine an interesting variety of Economics and Equities Research, Quantitative and Analytical elements, with the main tasks being:
- Research and regularly explain market drivers impacting Revenue and Balance Sheet
- Develop financial models with regression analysis to conduct detailed analysis on drivers of PL, balance sheet, risk and other KPI to explain current developments and aid forecasting
- Use financial models to develop predictive analytics (including scenario analysis) providing decision support and insight to the Executive level of the organization
- Keep current of market news, Economists' and Strategists' views to framework investment analysis, assess and describe current and long term trends with a focus on revenue impact
- Portfolio Analysis
- Advise the trading desks and senior management on market drivers
- Conduct Peer financial statement analysis and create financial models to evaluate historic information and generate forecasts
- KPI triangulation: Linking business KPI’s with market indicators
- Further development of RACE (Risk-Adjusted-Cost-of-Equity) models building on textbook-theory CAPM (Capital-Asset-Pricing-Model) and combining this with further Blue-sky analysis
- Working with large volumes of data to produce meaningful insight
Our ideal candidates should have the following requisites:
- Strong educational background with a MBA or Master's degree in a finance related subject. CFA or equivalent professional qualification is a plus.
- Practical experience (2 years) in a Treasury, Finance, Risk or Equities Research function in the financial service industry.
- This role is also open to exceptional Masters graduates with strong and relevant internship experience
- Excellent Excel/VBA programming skills, knowledge of Bloomberg and statistical software
- Strong analytical and statistical reasoning skills
- High level of proficiency in English with strong writing skills
- Strong influencing and networking skills in order to successfully build an effective network with the various UBS Divisions
- Hands-on mentality, reliable and accurate working style
- Attention to detail but able to maintain big picture and convey complex messages to senior management
- Good team player, high flexibility, commitment to meet quality and ability to manage tight deadlines
