As a result of continued and successful growth of our business we have the opportunity for Analysts to join our Liquidity team.
The Liquidity and Capital Management ("LCM") stream within the Capital, Liquidity and Risk team has responsibility for managing and optimising the liquidity, funding and regulatory capital requirements of the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) and Macquarie Securities (MSG) Groups. The LCM stream also advises on legal entity structures and the business impact of regulatory reform.
Focussing on liquidity, the role involves assisting LCM to manage and optimise its economic and regulatory capital footprint.
The role is responsible for assisting FICC and MSG businesses to improve liquidity, funding and capital management practices.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with reporting and forecasting of liquidity, funding and capital utilisation
- Assisting with evaluation of new business opportunities and the potential liquidity, funding and capital impact. These may include evaluation of new products, divestment or acquisition opportunities
- Improvements to management reporting, including use of business intelligence tools
- Advising and educating key business individuals at all levels to foster a culture of risk-based decision making.
- Financial modelling and model validation
- Interpretation of prudential standards and how they apply to our businesses
Key skills and knowledge required
- 2 - 3 years experience from a financial or consulting background
- A good understanding of or awareness and interest in regulatory and economic capital under the Basel and/or APRA framework would be advantageous
- A sound working knowledge of financial modelling
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- The ability to develop strong working relationships with clients and team members
- An analytical mind and strong problem solving skills: lateral thinking, natural curiosity and the ability to identify anomolous results.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to see multiple tasks through to completion
- Initiative and a commercial approach
- Hold tertiary qualifications in a Finance and/or accounting capacity (CA, CPA)
