Analyst, Operations Risk & Control
Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC) provides a variety of services across the globe with an underlying specialisation in interest rate, commodity or foreign exchange related institutional trading, marketing, lending, clearing or platform provision.
The Futures Division has been an active participant in the futures markets in Australia for over 15 years, maintaining a presence as a leading clearing and execution member of the Australian Stock Exchange. It has an established client base comprising many of Australia's leading fund managers, government and public enterprises and international bank, and provides opportunities for clients to benefit from movements within futures and options commodity markets as well as offering protection for existing exposures. The Futures Division is also an active participant in futures markets in Europe and the US and offers access to other markets through third party clearers.
We seek an Analyst, Operations Risk Control to work with existing Futures Risk Control team to perform the collation and analysis of data in assistance to some key projects undertaken by the Clearing business within the Futures Division of the Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities Group (FICC).
This will be a six month max term appointment
Your analytical approach and ability to retrieve, interpret and present data sets will allow you to interact with a range of business partners both within and outside of Macquarie whilst assisting the Risk and Control team with obtaining internal approvals for the implementation of new activities in an appropriately controlled manner.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Reconciliation of Initial Margin components between Macquarie back office system and relative exchanges/third party broker.
- Regression testing and presentation of contract price move data compared to historical IM on SPAN exchanges to determine suitability of exposure multiples.
- Regression testing of exchange levied intraday IM requirements to determine suitability of contingent funding requirements on offshore exchanges.
To be considered, you should possess the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce or a similar discipline;
- Experience should preferably include a minimum of 1-3 years in a Futures Operations role within a global Futures Commission Merchant.
- Strong spreadsheet and analytical skills with the ability to be able to interpret and reconcile data from a variety of sources.
- Good research skills, with the ability to use own initiative and drive and deliver in a fast-paced environment;
- Good communication skills; both written and verbal with a confidence in presenting and explaining the results of data analysis.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team of specialists.
