Analyst or Associate Banker – Agribusiness recruitment
Role Overview
The EBRD Agribusiness team has more than 15 years of experience in over 400 transactions across our 30 countries of operation, which range from central Europe to central Asia. We seek an Analyst / Associate Banker with the experience, capability and enthusiasm to become part of our growing success story in the countries of operation
The Analyst / Associate Banker will support transaction-related processes (project appraisals, negotiations, due diligence, legal documentation) under regular supervision of more senior bankers. This will be accomplished through marketing, project screening, origination, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, preparation, and monitoring of projects. The role can progress to more complex aspects of transaction processing, progressively gaining more responsibilities including directly liaising with clients and contribute to the structuring of transactions.
The role will be based in Resident Office in Moscow and will report to Director, Agribusiness.
This is a short term position for 12 months for external candidates and a secondment opportunity for internal applicants.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
· Project Identification and Screening: Participate in the promotion of Bank activities and contribute to project identification and generation; identify, review and screen investment proposals; when appropriate guide clients in business plan preparation.
· Project Processing: Process projects in accordance with the Bank's investment operation cycle; participate and assist in financial, technical, legal and environmental due diligence; in particular, undertake credit, financial and economic analysis of mostly private sector projects including production of cash flow projections and in-depth analysis of financial statements provided by client; gather required complementary data and information; contribute to preparation of project documentation; liaise with clients, local authorities, EBRD support units and other parties as required.
· Project Monitoring: Undertake the monitoring of existing Bank investments; monitoring of project implementation and operation; loan administration; preparation of monitoring reports based on meetings with clients, site visits, financial review, etc.
- Understand and monitor developments in the Agribusiness sector of the Bank's region.
- Undertake other assignments that may be given by senior team members, such as contributing to the preparation of briefs and strategy documents, marketing tasks, maintaining client relations.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
· Good relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education.
· Minimum of 2 years of investment banking/project finance experience for Analyst and 4 years for Associate Banker role from a major international financial institution, consulting firm and/or investment company.
· Strong banking/transaction skills and, in case of Associate Banker, experience in structuring operations.
· Track record or potential for being a 'deal maker', project generator and Operation Leader.
· Credit analysis skills: ability to interpret accounts, understanding accounting principles and practice of credit analysis
· Financial analysis skills: ability to design financial models; identify, understand and help solve complex issues; good knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS accounting.
· Sound understanding of business principles.
· Computer literacy with excellent Word and Excel skills.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Russian.
· Fluency in one of the other languages of the Banks countries of operations would be an advantage.
· Knowledge of the developments and trends in the sector is an advantage.
