Role Overview
The Analyst or Associate Banker will provide support to the project preparation process under direct and continuous supervision from Operation Leaders. The key focus will be on the credit and financial aspects of project development and implementation with special responsibility for financial modelling and analysis. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to assist in the marketing of the Bank's services as well as in the monitoring of signed projects. An Associate Banker may progress to more complex aspects of transaction processing, progressively gaining more responsibilities.
The Power and Energy team is comprised of 34 professionals, based in London and across the network of Resident Offices.
Key Responsibilities Deliverables
- The Analyst or Associate Banker will be responsible for data gathering, work on credit and financial aspects of project development - including financial analysis of companies, production of financial projections and cash-flow models, structuring and monitoring of loan covenants, judgement of performance relative to peers, production of reports required during the project cycle (including implementation and monitoring), liaison with the Bank's internal Credit department, and other support units.
- With supervision from senior team members, the Associate Banker will also be capable of working throughout the whole life cycle of projects in the power energy utilities sector. This will be accomplished through marketing, project screening, origination, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, preparation, and monitoring of projects.
- Participate in monitoring of existing investments, including preparation of regular monitoring reports based on meetings with client, site visits, financial review and other research.
- Work on preparation and implementation of Technical Cooperation/Technical Assistance programs.
- Gather and analyse project-related information through research, due diligence and independent inquiry.
Essential Skills, Experience Qualifications
- Good relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education (e.g. business administration, economics, finance).
- Minimum of 2 years' experience for Analyst level and 4 years' experience for Associate Banker ofrelevant and commercial work (e.g. banking, corporate finance, private equity or project finance) gained from a major commercial/investment bank, equity fund, advisory services or corporate finance firm.
- Proven analytical and modelling skills; strong financial skills, with ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models.
- Credit analysis skills: ability to interpret accounts, understanding international accounting principles and practice of credit analysis
- Computer literacy, excellent spreadsheet skills.
- Very good written and oral communication skills in English.
Desirable
- Fluency in French and/or Arabic would be ideal.
- Knowledge of the Power and Energy sector is an advantage.
