Analyst – Portfolio and Monitoring Support, Municipal and Environmental Infrastructure and Transport recruitment
Role Overview
The Municipal and Environmental Infrastructure (MEI) and Transport teams are looking for an analyst to provide monitoring and implementation support for their growing portfolios. The EBRD is a leading provider of finance for municipal and environmental and transport infrastructure from central Europe to central Asia. The two teams are active in all of the Bank's countries of operation and provide financing for projects in both the public and private sectors in such areas as water and wastewater, district heating, solid waste and the transport (both national and urban) sector. The two teams are currently looking for an Analyst with a proven track record to assist in the management of their team's portfolio with a focus on supporting implementation and monitoring signed loans. The Analyst will report to the Portfolio Manager in MEI and the Principal Portfolio Manager in Transport.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
- Work closely with the team's Operation Leaders (OLs) or act as OL to manage day-to-day project implementation and monitoring for assigned projects, addressing problems and client queries efficiently and ensuring the OL and team management are fully briefed on any potential issues.
- Review all reporting for assigned projects provided by the client, its consultants or generated internally within the Bank. Comment on adequacy (and/or liaise with OLs and relevant experts on technical or complex issues), suggest improvements/amendments where necessary.
- Monitor covenant compliance and liaise with clients on all project-related issues. Report to Operation Administration Unit on compliance and address any problems on compliance with Credit and other Support Units where necessary. Proactively review covenants to ensure Bank's internal reports are consistently updated. Ensure Exceptions Report is kept to an absolute minimum for assigned projects.
- Conduct monitoring visits to client, as needed.
- Participate in internal monitoring meetings.
- Input financial data into summary spreadsheets and prepare a ratio analysis for assigned loans. Write a credit analysis and prepare Monitoring Reports and Expanded Monitoring Reports for all projects within own portfolio.
- Lead, or assist OL, in the preparation of waivers, amendments to legal documentation, requiring OPSCOM approvals in relation to portfolio of projects.
- Review Evaluation Department (EvD) prepared drafts of Project Evaluation documents, ensuring all data contained is correct and assisting EvD in sourcing data they require for the preparation of their documentation.
- Monitor and manage related TCs, handling all relevant Bank requirements, and in particular act as focal point for liaison between client and consultant.
- Liaise with the Bank's internal Credit department, and other support units as needed.
Essential Skills, Experience Qualifications
- Good relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education (e.g. business administration, economics, finance)
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant and commercial work experience (e.g. banking, finance, accounting, audit or project finance or management) gained from a major commercial/investment bank, equity fund, advisory services or corporate finance firm
- Credit analysis skills: ability to interpret accounts, understanding international accounting principles and practice of credit analysis and to concisely summarise this information in a monitoring report
- Solid understanding of project implementation and project risks
- Proven analytical skills; strong numerical and financial skills, with ability to interpret financial information and to design and use financial models
- Computer literacy, excellent spreadsheet skills
- Very good written and oral communication skills in English
- Experience in the municipal and infrastructure sectors and knowledge of the Bank's countries of operation is an advantage
- Language skills: a major language from the Bank's region of operations would be a plus.
