The SIFMA is looking for a bright and enthusiastic individual to support the growing needs of a dynamic trade association. Must be a team player who enjoys a challenging work environment and be willing to go the extra mile to produce exceptional work. The Analyst will assist Staff Advisors in addressing and managing business practice and policy initiatives in their areas of expertise. The Analyst will be responsible for assisting Staff Advisors in developing and pursuing projects and initiatives related to:
- Legal, regulatory and market practice issues in the financial markets;
- The education of industry participants, media, and regulatory and legislative officials regarding the current practices and future needs of the securities industry.
Responsibilities:
- Coordination of and participation in committee meetings; Creation and dissemination of committee documents, including comment letters on current regulatory issues;
- Communication with senior staff and executives at member firms;
- Administrative and other support on SIFMA-wide initiatives.
Requirements
- 2 - 4 years of financial services or legal industry experience;
- Bachelor’s degree required - an advanced degree is preferred (i.e. J.D. or M.B.A.);
- Strong oral and written communications skills suitable for business and advocacy purposes;
- Analytic skills necessary to understand the legal regulatory issues affecting the industry;
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, and the ability to prioritize numerous tasks;
- Basic understanding of the equity and fixed-income markets is necessary, along with the ability and desire to build a strong substantive knowledge of the global financial markets;
- A strong interest in regulatory and other public policy issues, as well as the development of standardized market practices;
