My client is a global investment bank, and this role requires a blend of Product Control and risk, with a strong controls awareness/

Main Duties

The main duties and responsibilities of this role are
Daily PL Reporting

•  Report daily PL, including understanding risk positions and market moves for PL explanation.

•  Understand system and control framework and apply to daily work.

•  Perform front to back reconciliation and control sub ledger PL and balances

•  Work closely with global counterparts and help to implement best practices in Asia

Month end Close

•  Gain an in-depth understanding of accounting and provisioning, and perform month end calculations and reconciliation.

•  Review and substantiate the balance sheet in an analytical manner.

•  Conduct monthly balance sheet review meeting with manager

MIS reporting

•  Manage daily/weekly PL and commentary submission to regional and global management.

•  Handle ad-hoc management request for various management reports

Process Efficiency

•  Identifying activities/tasks which can be performed more efficiently (eg. potential automation) whilst ensuring maintenance of a robust control framework.

Person Requirements:

Qualifications/Education (Essential):
 

ACA /CPA /CA

Top tier University degree or equivalent

Technical Knowledge

A strong control awareness, including an understanding of the key controls required in an investment bank Solid accounting skills with knowledge of IFRS as it applies to Financial Instruments (IAS 39/IAS32/IFRS7/IFRS9)

Business Skills

A confident and articulate self-starter with the ability to cope with the demands of working within tight deadlines

Ability to prioritize and escalate breaches of policies and procedures as appropriate

Proactive and assertive in driving control improvement for their area

Ability to take initiative and streamline processes within the team and within the firm

Commercial Effectiveness

Clear understanding of impact of accounting transactions on financial statements

Consistently delivers against targets

Can solve problems effectively and creatively

Excellent communication skills in both formal and informal settings ability to interact with the region and as part of a global team (written and verbal). Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex issues is a key requirement.

Good knowledge of MS Excel and Access

Experience required:

4-5 years post qualification experience

Experience preferred:

Experience in Investment banks or other financial institutions preferred
