Analyst/Programmer (Payments) – London – Perm recruitment

A leading Investment Bank are currently looking for a Analyst/Programmer to join their successful payments team.

The group are implementing a messaging hub to handle delivery and distribution of its SWIFT messages. The system is based upon the MISYS Payment Manager software, and is a key component of high profile strategic integration developments.

This role is targeted at an individual seeking experience of working with business critical applications in a Trading back office environment.

The successful applicant would be primarily responsible for taking requirements from other application or business based teams who need new or changed messaging capability to support their business or project initiatives, developing those requirements into firm change specifications and delivering the changes for testing. The candidate will need to be highly motivated and be able to deliver to tight deadlines, often imposed by the larger programme timescales. The candidate should be confident and be able to face off to the client when required.

Key skills required for this role include:

-Experience of the development process from requirements through specification to testing and delivery
-Development and change of JAVA applications
-IBM Websphere Application Server (WAS)
-Knowledge of SWIFT formats and other payment messages
-Message routing applications
-Delivering enhancements and small changes in production applications
-Code management (ideally subversion)
-Good communication skills when dealing with the project stakeholders

The role will encompass development, business analysis, maintenance and support of testing (and 3rd line production support) - rather than full time development.

Additional Requirements

*Experience of implementing change in applications preferably in a Trading environment.
*Proven ability to work within a small application development team.
*Ability to manage own work, seeking direction advice and guidance as required maintaining progress.
*Ability to analyse effectively and make decisions on how to proceed.
*Experience of interfacing preferably using MQ Series.
*Oracle database experience including SQL
*Knowledge of CLS is preferred but not essential.
