Kelly Services is seeking an Analytical Chemist in the Research Development group of our Santa Barbara, CA based customer. The group?s primary function is supporting of Aesthetic Products with analytical characterization and related testing. This person will report to the Manager of Analytical Characterization. The candidate is expected to be honest and with high ethical standard. A MS degree in Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with 5 or more years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry is required. A PhD with 3 or more years of relevant experience will also be considered. Applicants should be familiar with regulatory guidance documents and standards. Hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge in extraction procedures, GC/MS, HPLC, FT-IR, ICP/MS, and other spectroscopy techniques are required. The candidate must be capable of producing consistent and accurate results. Experience with polymer medical devices is preferred. The work assignments will include, but not be limited to the following: 1. Design and carry out analytical testing and research studies in support of product development, regulatory, and other disciplines under minimum supervision 2. Operate, calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments 3. Order and maintain laboratory supplies 4. Follow applicable regulatory guidance for environmental safety, chemical hygiene, hazardous waste handling and disposal, and use all appropriate personal protection equipment 5. Perform routine analyses based on standard operating procedures 6. Develop and establish testing methods as needed 7. Keep thorough and accurate records of experimental procedures and data 8. Write study protocols, study reports, and standard operating procedures 9. Provide comprehensive interpretation of test data 10. Convey research idea and study findings to team members and to other groups as needed 11.
