Analytical Chemist with Biofuels Experience

Analytical Chemist - Metabolite Analysis - Biofuels RA or Associate Scientist sought to perform research and method development in collaboration with others in metabolic engineering and pathway manipulation of microbes to enable them to produce metabolites important to Biofuel Production. Job Description: - Have a strong understanding of HPLC, UPLC, and separation chemistry in general on carbohydrates and metabolites - Have a strong understanding of GC and MS or FID - Strong analytical background as well as method/protocol development - Be able to clean, calibrate HPLC machinery between sample analyses - Work with a wide range of Ph.D.-level scientists to analyze samples in a high-throughput, fast-paced evironment. - Candidates are expected to work in cross-functional teams to meet targeted milestones in research programs. - Minimum Qualification: - B.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline with 2-5 years of Research associate or industrial research experience or M.S. in similar field with 0-2 years of Research Associate or industrial research experience. - An ideal candidate should be experienced and skillful in a wide range of separation chemistry methodologies, including HPLC and other types of chromatography. - Expected candidate should be self-motivated, innovative, hands-on, a team-player, and works well in an interdisciplinary research environment with excellent oral and written communication skills and must have an ability to work in a fast-paced development setting/organization and capture the laboratory work in technical documents - Active participation in executing experiments is preferred; however the candidate can be placed in supervision with Research Scientist to design experiments. - Candidates are expected to have the ability to document and to communicate experimental data to scientists clearly in an interdisciplinary environment is essential. - Besides having the ability to maintain clean and organized lab area, excellent oral and written communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, and sufficient computer skills.
