ANZ IT / APAC Equities IT Chief Operating Officer (COO) recruitment

The COO will be a member of the ANZ Group Technology Management Committee and work closely with the IT Heads of the Investment Bank, Wealth Management, Global Asset Management and GTIS. This position will be responsible for project and financial reporting; risk management and regulatory compliance; budgeting; outsourcing; strategy development communication; and Group Technology-wide initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Client

• Understand and manage client needs and expectations at senior levels in the organization as they relate to the overall group technology service offering strategy and leverage resources across the various technology groups to meet their needs.

• Communicate project progress to clients and manage their expectations concerning implementation and delivery - particularly as it relates to infrastructure and shared service initiatives.

People

• Act as a vocal and visible leader within the technology team, helping to actively manage the workforce in line with UBS goals and principles.

• Assist HR and IT management with key annual exercises including promotions, compensation, recruitment, intern/grad cycle and succession planning.

• Communications strategy development execution to ensure that the broader employee population is aware of, and engaged in the overall group technology operational and strategic objectives.

 

Financial

• Focus on cost efficiency and industrialization. Understand the cost of the services which IT produce and how this is translated into the consumer bill paid by the business.

• Regular monitoring and approval/pushback for business requests for moves and relocations to ensure efficiency and control costs.
 

Job Specific

• Assume responsibility for department-wide operational risk related initiatives such as MORCS/SOX/ORF2/audit point tracking/reporting.

• Understand cost drivers for projects, whilst sanity checking cost/benefit propositions

• Assist the CIO to meet recurring and ad-hoc reporting requirements from the APAC IT central office, the IB IT central office, and the Eq IT central office, and the Equities business heads. As much as is possible industrialize the creation, publication, and storage of this data to improve team agility.

REQUIREMENTS

• Tertiary qualifications in IT, Economics, Finance or Business Administration

• Experience working in an IT environment at a senior level (10+ years)

• Experience with project and stakeholder management up to and including senior levels

• Intermediate to advanced skills in various MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint

• Mathematical aptitude, particularly related to financials

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels

• Financial Services/Investment Bank experience preferred
