APAC Economist | Director | Pan-Asian Hedge Fund | Hong Kong
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Economists to become the focal point of one the regions leading Equity Hedge Funds and enhance their China focused, Macro Investment Strategy.
The role is to be part of a small team of Economists that conduct regional research, which is then used to develop and implement investment procedures within the fund.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct macro research on the Asia-Pacific markets, encompassing Monetary Policy, Political Landscape, Social movement and the wider effects of the global economy to develop thematic research notes
- Develop broad Equity market Strategies for China and the Asia-Pacific region as a whole based on Economic principles to identify trading opportunities for the fund
- Work closely other Economists to develop Global research and ensure this is communicated to Senior Management
- Develop long-term (1-5 years) investment proposals based in the changing Economic landscape of China. Broad Asia-Pacific and Global Economic forecasting will also be key to the role
- Work closely with Fund Managers to ensure research is effectively communicated
- Directly contribute to the overall investment process of the fund
Candidate Requirements
- At least 4 years experience in a Macro research role covering broad APAC research within a Tier-1 Financial Institution. Candidates with Ph.D's and less than 4 years will be considered
- University Degree Educated with at least a Master's in Economics or Finance. PhD Candidates are preferred
- Excellent report writing skills
- Technical skills including Statistical Analysis, Economic Forecasting using large data-sets and mathematical modelling are crucial for this position
- High level oral and written English communication skills. Candidates with fluency in Mandarin will have an added advantage due to the coverage of the role
