APAC Employment Lawyer recruitment

This is a new position therefore the person who fills this role has the opportunity to influence its scope. You will work with a team of employment lawyers based in other countries, and report to the global in-house counsel in charge of employment law services.  This position can be based in either Hong Kong or Singapore.

Overview 

You will provide labour and employment legal support for business units in the Asia region, serving as the principal point of contact and coordinator for employment law policies and practices. This is a broad based in-house legal role, with responsibility for being a partner to the HR teams in the APAC region.

Key job duties include:

- providing legal advice and service by combining skill in employment law with sound business acumen and knowledge of business goals and objectives of the APAC-based business units;

- working closely with HR regarding the day-to-day issues that arise with respect to individual employees;

- overseeing internal investigations involving employment-related issues (e.g., discrimination, sexual harassment);

- conducting training regarding employment law issues, as well as special sessions on an as-needed basis for HR and management;

- supervising and actively directing outside counsel;

- drafting documents such as employment contracts, compromise agreements, corporate policies, etc.;

- advising on employment-related litigation and overseeing outside counsel;

- working with HR to assist with implementation of corporate employment-related policies;

 Qualifications/Experience:

- Qualified as an attorney in at least one APAC country

- Relevant private practice-based and/or in-house experience in the APAC region and experience covering APAC for global, dynamic commercially respected firms/clients

- General knowledge of APAC employment laws

- Preferably 6-8 years of relevant law firm or in-house experience
