APAC Ops Change Manager, SVP recruitment
My client is an international investment bank with a very strong Asian hub and a commitment to growth in the region. The successful applicant will have the seniority to deal with global stakeholders and a track record of delivery.
The Ops Change function provides complete end-to-end project support to users, from analysis to post implementation support, with the key focus on timely, value-added and strong delivery. At the same time, the function also ensures consistency of solutions implemented, taking into account location specific regulatory requirements and strategic direction.
Main Duties
- Analyze and categorize project demands based on scale, scope and timelines, and partner the PMO function to properly estimate funding and resource allocation for each project.
- Design and setup a project framework to cover the end-to-end project lifecycle, specifying the types of project documentation required for different project categories.
- Ensure that all members of the function adheres to the discipline of the project framework .
- Have a clear understanding of user requirements and ensure requirements are consistent with other similar functions and in line with the strategic infrastructure roadmap. In turn, ensure Technology partners have the same understanding and are able to translate the requirements into a suitable Technology build.
- Manage the end-to-end User Acceptance Testing (UAT) process and ensure testing is smoothly run and completed on time, with Technology partners providing the right level of support throughout the process.
- Maintain oversight of all projects managed by the function, and provide support and assistance to the respective project resources to clear any roadblocks or showstoppers affecting project delivery.
- Provide the right level of management information to the respective stakeholder groups such that project progress, issues and risks are well understood and escalation made in a timely manner.
- Partner the PMO function to plan future capacity and supply for project demands expected of the team, and assign suitable resources to each project depending on required skillsets. In turn, enable the team to focus on core competency which is to deliver the projects.
- Coach, develop and guide junior project resources within the function, ensuring the quality of the resources is raised through constant training and feedback, creating an active pipeline for succession planning.
Person Requirements
- Successfully setup a Projects Office framework in a similar capacity
- Senior VP role. Ideal candidate should have more than 12 years of experience in Investment Bank across both areas
- Operations (middle office/back office) line role/ BAU support
- Operations change role/project management; both as a business analyst as well as a project manager
- Prior experience in an IT BAU support role would be an added advantage
- Must have prior experience managing an Operations change/project management team, and is comfortable managing a team with strong Operations line/project management experience.
- A delivery-focused and resourceful individual, willing to go the extra mile to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. Track record of successful delivery; demonstrated value added in the process and to the projects undertaken.
- Savvy in escalating issues as well as managing escalations.
- Well versed in the various project methodologies and skill sets
- Knowledge of FICC products and trade/process flows. In tune with market trends/business practices/regulatory requirements in Asia Pacific Emerging Markets.
- Produced succinct project related management information for both senior management as well as other stakeholder groups. In addition, has produced a suite of detailed project documentation across projects of different scale/scope.
- Worked effectively with different regions, locations, culture, corporate level and departments to obtain required information to progress projects till completion.
- Articulate; effective influencing and negotiation skills.
