Application Consultant recruitment
The individual will be responsible for managing time and cost estimates, implementation of new or revised system / application enhancements, docket prioritisation, and related budget considerations while consulting with the business unit and technical service partners to provide regular status and set expectations.
Responsibilities:
- assign tasks to the HK support / development team; organise the work, set short-term priorities, monitor all activity, and ensure timely and accurate completion of work
- provide input into the performance management process and staffing decisions
- direct the day-to-day system and application support within the HK office
- provide direction and coordination for the resolution of issues affecting availability and ‘business as usual’ functions
- escalate and communicate clearly with business partners and management for incident and availability related issues
- evaluate and make recommendations on techniques, practices or technologies that would enhance business processes
- perform and coordinate system installations which include maintenance, modification and implementation of software
- interface with partners and clients on system installations and upgrades to ensure no service interruptions occur
- act as a liaison to other system areas and provide technical guidance and can direct project / docket development as needed
- consult with partners from systems and other business units regarding new techniques, practices or technologies and interpret / communicate the impacts or these proposed changes
- serve as an expert resource or ‘go to person’ within the group
Requirements:
- at least five years’ experience in supervising technical staff
- familiarity with Charles River
- Financial Services industry experience within the investments / trade execution area
- familiarity with various asset classes
- understanding of programming / query languages (Java, C++, HTML Scripting, Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, SQL is beneficial
- knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) would be a plus
- experience with various application tools (MS Office / Project, SharePoint)
- knowledge of programming languages and various phases report studies, various business applications and the ability to consult with business unit partners to determine effective IT solutions to business processes
- in-depth knowledge of the trade life cycle from the starting positions and cash of a portfolio, through order generation, order routing, order management, trade execution and reporting to accounting
- understanding of the following asset types: Equity, Fixed Income, Derivatives, Treasury Assets, FX and other standard instruments; experience with broker matching utilities (Omgeo Oasys, CTM or Misys CMS), Optimisation Applications (ITG, Axioma), Enterprise data management tools, familiarity with Order Management System data models and interfaces (Bloomberg POMS, Charles River, BRS Aladdin, Thinkfolio, Latent Zero, Sapphire) is preferred
