APPLICATION / DATABASE SUPPORT (SQL SERVER / ORACLE) – FINANCE – SYDNEY recruitment

An important database operational support opportunity has arisen with one of the Australia’s leading Finance Houses. Our client holds a strong domestic presence and some of the most complex IT systems in Australia to provide a wide range of financial services. Now due to operational vendor change a new position has become available for an Application / Database Support Analyst to join this Sydney CBD Finance team.

The team sits within the greater trading arm of one of Australia’s largest financial services organizations and focuses specifically on the support, design, delivery solution delivery management of systems related to Middle Office Functions.  There are a multitude of vender and in-house developed applications that feed data into the supported systems where multiple calculates are generated and then fed to settlement systems at the back end. These systems are vital to one of the businesses main revenue generating area’s where they depend on technology for efficiency and productivity.

As an Application / Database Support Analyst you’ll be responsible for the operational management of database systems based predominantly on SQL Server and to some extent Oracle. This management will see you perform daily health checks, monitor performance, log file analysis for escalated issues, identify and implement automation opportunities, setup, configure and restore environments for testing purposes and liaise with project staff. As the second line you WON’T be directly taking support calls from the business but rather act as a middle tier between the technology and 1st/2nd level support staff who will escalate only relevant requests for major problem resolution and IT Change / Release.

Requirements of the role:

• Applications / Database Support Experience, ideally in Finance / Large complex environment

• Advanced SQL Server Database Support experience (3-5 years)

• Good  knowledge of T-SQL and SQL Querying- Triggers, Joins, DDL etc

• Good Oracle Database experience / understanding.

• Experience automating processes and streamlining systems.

• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.

• Understanding / Appreciation of ITIL framework principles.

• Good verbal and written communication skills.

• IT Degree / Diploma or related industry certifications.
