Looking for a position where you have an opportunity to lead a development team, work with new technologies, and actively participate in design and project decisions? This application development lead position may be for you. This position reports to the Assistant Director for Enterprise Systems Services (ESS) within the Office of Information Technology at West Virginia University. This lead supervisory and technical position will be responsible for providing oversight and direction for the enterprise level applications development and technical support unit of ESS. This unit is responsible for the analysis, design, development, deployment, and technical support of University-wide applications implemented and /or supported centrally -- these include many of the University s mission-critical and sensitive data systems such as the University s data warehouse IDEAS, student evaluation of instruction eSEI, and Electronic Research Administration applications. This position will actively participate in application support to existing and development of new systems utilizing current and cutting edge Java and Oracle technologies; make recommendations to management and users that improve overall system efficiency and compliance with federal, state, and university guidelines; research, design, and develop large and small information technology projects critical to the mission of administrative and academic areas of the University; and ensure that development standards are followed, processes are documented and sensitive data remains secure. Technical Skills desired include: Experience in design, development, implementation of database applications utilizing Oracle development tools (including but not limited to: SQL, PL/SQL packages procedures, APEX, OBIEE; Experience in delivering and supporting applications with stringent security requirements to the internet; Strong system development life cycle (SDLC) skills: planning and feasibility, system analysis, system design, implementation, integration and testing, deployment, and maintenance of highly complex database systems; Oracle Application Server experience such as Oracle10g / WebLogic / Apache / Tomcat; Oracle RDBMS V10.x and higher and Unix Operating System; Design, development, deployment of Java web applications using: Java versions 1.5 and higher; Java technologies (including but not limited to Hibernate, Spring, JSP, Maven, Servlets, JSF, java plug-in framework); experience with web technologies including: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, XHTML; Technical supervisory or project management experience; Experience using version control systems such as CVS or Subversion.
