Application Engineering Supervisor Job in Mississauga, Ontario Canada

This is an exciting opportunity to work for an International EPC Company. Our client is growing and is looking to build a stronger team by adding on a LEADER who has exceptional mentoring and supervisory capabilities. In this role, you will be 80% of the time out in the field and 20% organizing projects.


MUST HAVES:


- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems or Computer Science
- 5 + years of experience at least 3 as a supervisor or team leader
- Player/coach type style
-PMP designation (preferred)
- Excellent computer skills and communication skills

OVERVIEW:

We are looking for someone who can help us deliver world class energy management solutions and services to help customers around the globe understand and manage their energy. If you are an experienced application engineer with significant expertise and interest in systems integration, energy management, power monitoring and SCADA systems, data collection devices and communication protocols, customer service, then we are looking for you to join this team. As a member of this team, you will utilize your extensive technical skills to play a key role in the implementation and success of our systems. You will work closely with sales reps, project management, business development, software development, and other key stake holders to assure timely implementation and customer satisfaction.

In addition, you will be the Supervisor for the Central Region (Ontario), and lead a team of application engineering specialists. You will be responsible for talent management (performance, training, and salary reviews). Work is generally performed either remotely or at customer's site.

Position combines field and administrative work. Domestic travel expected to be 10% of the time.

Responsibilities Include:

- Design and implement Energy Management Solutions and upgrades for our customers
- Customer Satisfaction - develop a strong understanding of our customers’ energy management needs and provide tailored solutions to meet these needs
- Work independently and with little guidance on assigned projects and activities (this includes project managing small to mid-sized projects)
- Backlog management - assign jobs to the rest of the team and ensure proper utilization of the overall resources
- Ensure adequate communication with customers and the rest of the team and other stake holders
- Travel to customer sites to implement Energy Management Solutions and provide system training
- Provide technical support to help our sales channels promoting energy management solutions
- Review requirements for estimation and project management planning
- Support management to attain experienced talents and identify key training needs
- Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications:

- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems, Computer Science recognized by a Canadian professional engineering licensor
- Minimum of five years of relevant experience
- Advanced communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Expert practical knowledge of the Microsoft Windows OS family
- Relevant experience working with SQL Server, including operation, performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) with ability to write moderately complex queries
- Ability to negotiate and manage scheduling and resource requirements
- Strong understanding of electrical terminology and concepts
- Interpersonal skills: team-oriented, positive and collaborative
- Ability to travel to other company locations across Canada and customer sites

Desirable Qualifications:

- Bilingual: French English
- PMP Certification
- CEM Certification
- Experience with third party products related to energy management
- Experience in diagnostics and problem solving for software, hardware, networking, databases and overall systems
- Experience with the following for enterprise software platforms that interface with external devices (in our case power meters): communications (network, devices, etc)
- Scalability (increasing number and verify devices for a given architecture)
- Stability (detecting communication problems, diagnosing, software failures, etc)
- Database stress (transaction limits) and volume (size of database)
- Extensive electrical knowledge, Power Theory, electrical theory, wiring, safety
- On-site power system experience
- Experience using virtual machines in a test or customer environment
