Johns Hopkins Community Physicians (JHCP) provides Hopkins-quality primary and specialty health care at attractive, convenient medical centers in communities across Maryland.
JHCP is currently hiring an Application Manager who will be responsible for assigned systems and projects within the specification of a project schedule. The Application Manager will report to the Director of Information Systems.
Responsibilities:
- Responding on upper-management directions
- Responsible for a variety of departmental and enterprise-wide mainframe, midrange, web-based, and client-server based systems including development, testing, implementation, maintenance, administration, performance, stability, disaster recovery, availability, support and documentation
- Identifying and providing tools and standards for gathering data to be utilized in trend analysis and reporting
- Ensuring that an IT industry standard system development life cycle project management technique is used in all software application implementation, enhancements and development
- Overseeing the Software Configuration Management to establish and maintain consistency of a system's or product's performance and its functional and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information throughout its life
- Managing and directing software support specialists, application specialists, programmer analysts, and database administrators
- Allocating resources to accomplish goals and objectives through assigned staff
- Effectively utilizing team members to their fullest potential, including selecting, training, mentoring, evaluating and motivating staff
- Reviewing work for completeness and technical accuracy
Technical Knowledge:
- Web development: HTML, Front Page, Dreamweaver, Visual Studio 2005, Visual Basic.net
- Programming: SQL, Visual Basic, Oracle PL/SQL, MEL, HL7 programming
- Office Productivity: Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Publisher, Visio, Crystal Reports, Winzip, FTP
- Databases: Microsoft Access, SQL Server Database, Oracle 9i and 10g, IDX DBMS
- Operating Systems: UNIX, Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000 server
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Science; Master’s degree in Information Technology preferred
- 15 years of Information Technology experience with computer systems and applications in a Healthcare setting
- Minimum 2 years of staff management and IT project management experience
- Advanced level of competency in technical and clinical expertise, as well as in structured programming, relational databases, file structures, programming tools, clinical applications, workflows, and IT protocols
- Demonstrated experience with highly complex computer systems and applications in an IS clinical setting
- Heavy centricity experience is strongly preferred; GE Centricity experience is desirable
- Strong analytical expertise to solve business and technical problems
- Strong technical expertise in complex analysis, design, development, testing (unit, system, and integrated) and debugging of computer software in support of the assigned application and platform
