London based Commodities Firm seek a Application Support Analyst for L1 and L2 Production Support (MS SQL Server or MySQL or Oracle and Unix Linux Command Line and Shell Scripting)working in the modern school (ITIL)of Production Support. Technical wise it is 2nd level Windows 2K3 or 2K8, Unix operating system knowledge (Linux or Solaris), DB experience (MS SQL Server or MySQL or Oracle), Basic Java application knowledge, Informatica Power Centre v9, Good appreciation of IP networking principles, Either Perl, Ksh or VB scripting, Strong ITIL exposure and working within service management guidelines. SQL scripting experience. Typically, problems escalated to 2nd level support are complex and span across technologies, networks and hardware with a high degree of involvement to the core business of the customer. The jobholder therefore requires a broad and high degree of technical knowledge and an appreciation of the workings of a commodities market. Responsibilities would be to manage and investigate problems / incidents assigned to the application support team via the service desk in line with service level agreements. Act as key IT resolvers for during major incident management. Provide in-depth 2nd line support for applications by onsite activity, telephone support calls and e-mails. Ensure all applications are ‘operationally ready’ undertaking regular user access reviews, fail-over tests, restore tests and review of support documents. To liaise closely with project and development teams to ensure new applications are operationally ‘readiness’ and fit for purpose from an applications management perspective. Assist in the acceptance and deployment of new releases of software from the development team or software suppliers in order to meet the required level of service
