Application Support Specialist recruitment
This is an important role, as you will become a member of a newly formed global application support team, which is being formed, to support and maintain the Charles River application environment. This team will be jointly accountable for operational stability of the Charles River platform, and will engage in activities including: triaging and resolving production incidents; proactive trend analysis to predict and prevent outages; maintenance of Charles River data, configuration, and work flows; FIX connection and infrastructure administration; daily and weekly batch cycle management; and coordination with central infrastructure teams for platform and non-functional requirements. As a key member of the team you will be expected to demonstrate a passion for completing work, with an emphasis on quality and with a vision towards maintaining a stable environment. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate and share knowledge freely with local, and remote colleagues, including contributing to the team’s structured support knowledge. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Querying the Charles River database for support and ad-hoc reporting/ analysis purposes
- Lead the delivery of tactical Charles River configuration changes and establishing and maintaining FIX connections
- Prepare formal documentation, training materials, and support knowledge articles such as procedures and FAQ’s as required
- Automate routine administrative and support tasks such as data batch loads and end/start of day cycles
- Conduct formal and informal training sessions for colleagues within the application support team; Coordinate and facilitate resolution and communication for major incidents
- Support overall team responsibilities including incident triage and resolution, problem management, proactive platform analysis and coordination with central infrastructure teams
- For this role the successful candidate will be expected to share “on-call rotation” and night and weekend work.
The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate skills and experience in the following:
- Fixed Income and or Equity trading technology (buy or sell side) support
- Supporting FIX, including familiarity with FIX protocol
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts (Oracle experience preferred)
- Charles River IMS administration and support experience would be desirable
- Strong knowledge of Linux system usage and a familiarity of administration matters
- Familiar with environment management, code deployment and configuration control processes
- Significant production support experience
- Familiar with a multi-ties application platforms
- Development / change projects including a disciplined approach to implementation
- Documenting procedures and conducting training sessions
- Flexible and approachable team-worker
- Ability to operate under pressure and deliver to demanding deadlines
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
- Proven ability to work with technology and business stakeholders
- Ability to analyse complex problems in a structured manner whilst working under pressure
