Applications Developer

Laureate Global Products and Services is the online and U.S. campus-based group of Laureate Education, a leading international provider of higher education services. Our institutions include Walden University, a distance learning institution of higher education based in Minneapolis, Minnesota; the University of Liverpool based in Amsterdam, Netherlands; Kendall College, a leading higher education institution of culinary arts and hospitality management based in Chicago, Illinois; NewSchool of Architecture and Design, based in San Diego, California; Santa Fe University of Art and Design, an institute of art and design, based in Santa Fe, New Mexico and The National Hispanic University, based in San Jose, California.

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Laureate Inc. is currently looking to add a qualified Applications Developer to our Application Support staff. Applicants should have strong troubleshooting skills and be able to analyze data, coding, and process related errors. The Application Support Developer must be comfortable programming within n-tier applications and must be able to decipher programming performed by other departments and third parties. The candidate should be accustomed to working in a customer based environment and be prepared to address customer issues as they are reported through various trouble ticketing systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
' Member of a close-knit support team of business analysts and internal users, you will develop an expert level understanding of how our student portals and their integrations with other back office systems.
' Working closely with a developer team and project manager to identify bugs and recomend resolutions.
' Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
' Excellent listening skills and the ability work well with a diverse group of people in multiple locations.
' Ability to adapt well to change and respond to a fast-paced environment.
' Design or modify, code, debug, test, and document moderately complex application systems
' Design, implement, and document procedures.
' Works with delivery team clients, Managers and team members in identifying integration approaches and addressing data concerns as required.
' Stays current on targeted platform functionality and enhancements.

- 5-7 years experience working as an object oriented application developer in either C++, Java, .Net (C# or VB)
- Strong Microsoft SQL, MySQL, or Oracle SQL skills
- Experience with SOX compliance or an environment with a strong SDLC is preferred.
- Aptitude for working in a fast paced customer focused environment.
- Strong ability to troubleshoot production data and process related problems.
- Ability to work well with a team with differing skill sets.
- Ability to work with business analysts to determine future of various systems.
- Experience supporting or improving third party applications is a plus.
- Experience in any of the following technologies is a plus (C#, ColdFusion, Perl ;), VB, Linux, Unix, T-SQL, PL-SQL, Microsoft IIS, Apache)
- Preference will be given to candidates with strong knowledge of SCT Banner
