Daifuku America Corporation is the global leader in the manufacture, installation, and service of automated material handling systems.
Our Automotive Factory Automation (AFA) division seeks an experienced Application Engineer.
As an Application Engineer will design and estimate automotive material handling systems for all major phases of the automotive line.
The successful applicant must have first-hand engineering knowledge of material handling systems including Power Free Conveyors, Skillet Conveyors, Slat Chain Conveyors, Skid Conveyors, Electrified Monorail Systems, Lifters and Part Carriers.
Required
- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- Must have experience in system design and implementation in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Automotive manufacturing, strongly preferred.
- Strong skills and experience in estimating total costs for mechanical and structural components of material handling systems. Experience in bid proposals a plus.
- Must be able to perform engineering studies to develop reliable and optimum systems based on our automotive customer's requirements.
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD (2000 or higher), Excel, Word, Power Point and MS Project.
Preferred
- Experience with Automotive Customer Specifications.
- Experience communicating regular status to clients, superiors, and peers.
- Basic experience writing hardware specifications.
- Ability to provide immediate supervision to employees, assigning tasks, scheduling shifts, and checking work at frequent intervals.
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of quality and inspection requirements, manufacturing processes, and measurement techniques.
