ATMI is seeking a US based Applications Engineer. Reporting to the Global Director of Business Development and Marketing for ATMI Life Sciences US, this position is "The Face of ATMI" to our customers.
The Applications Engineer will, with the other members of ATMI's sales team, be responsible for the establishment of ATMI Life Sciences North America for the Integrity line of single-use bioprocessing solutions to the Life Sciences market.
This position requires experience in bioprocessing, single-use technologies, technology transfer and bioprocess design by a self-starter with excellent communication and people skills, who can build and nurture successful long term customer and cross department relationships.
The successful candidate must be able to set and achieve aggressive performance goals, work to strict customer specific time lines, multi-task, travel extensively within the US and provide creative input. This position will be located in ATMI's manufacturing center in Bloomington, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- Manage the applications laboratory at ATMI Bloomington;
- Undertake applications studies with Integrity SUT technologies to support direct customer evaluations;
- Work with customers at ATMI's facility and at customer site to support their evaluation studies;
- Work with customers and ATMI cross functional teams at ATMI's facility and at customer site develop optimized and integrated processes with Integrity SUTs;
- Work with sales team in the field to undertake customer testing and evaluations, meetings can be with the sale steam or independently but in co-ordination with the sales team;
- Undertake SUT evaluations of identified solutions to provide application and marketing support and sales tools co-ordination with the Product Managers Marketing Team;
- Provide application and product training support to the sales and marketing team as required
- Liaise and interact with the Product Managers on aspects of product performance, comparative testing, and design upgrades;
- Undertake IQ/OQ of Integrity SUTs for customers;
- Assist customers with PQ of installed systems on a fee basis;
- Provide technical and applications sales support to the sales team or directly to customers;
- Interface directly with the customer as the primary contact when a custom engineered hardware solution is provided or requested;
- Liaise with internal cross functional teams of engineers, supply chain, manufacturing, customer service and finance for timely design, installation and invoice of Integrity based SUT products or processes;
- Interface directly with the customer and the supplier as the primary contact when complimentary technologies (load cells, heater/chillers etc.) are sold with and in support of ATMI technology;
- Work with Marketing to produce technical papers and documents in support of all mixing trials and sales support and maintain database of same;
- Proactive member of New Product Introduction teams and point person for "Voice of the Customer" input;
- Provide engineering and technical documentation support to sales and service teams;
- Transfer RD documentation into manufacturing documentation package;
- Conduct presentations at key conferences;
- Provide engineering interface between RD, sales and manufacturing;
- Facilitate customized projects in close cooperation with customer, Sales Manager, Product Engineering and Product Managers;
- 70% travel, primarily in the US; occasional international travel may be required.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Life Science or Engineering subject, or comparable work experience in the Life Science industry;
- 3 to 5 years experience of working in the Biopharmaceutical industry in production, R+D, Technology Transfer;
- Strong background in cGMP manufacturing;
- Computer design and engineering experience (Proficiency in CAD, 3-D drawings desired);
- Experience of working in a sales driven and market facing environment;
- Solid working experience with MS Office and a CRM database (Salesforce.com, ACT, Oracle, etc.).
