Applications Support Engineer

The candidate will provide pre and post sales support for automated industrial AFMs, with emphasis in data storage, semiconductor, and solar industries.   The position will require the ability to work in a clean room standing for long periods of time. 

 

Primary duties include:

-          Instrument demonstrations of industrial atomic force microscopes. Demo duties include probe evaluation, recipe writing, and data analysis.

-          Generate application notes, sample data reports, and demo reports

-          Support and cooperate with technical sales staff to achieve sales targets

-          Provide technical support and discussion to customers including installation, training, system maintenance and repair, experimental development, and data review.

-          Test new products and provide feedback to development groups

-          Present technical presentations at conference, conduct training workshops, and technical expertise during customer meetings

Requirements:

-          Education/Experience Requirements:  Advanced degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, material science, or related field preferred.  Candidates with BS degrees will be considered with equivalent experience in atomic force microscopy.

-          Strong background in Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and/or Semiconductor Manufacturing.

-          Experience with Matlab preferable

-          Excellent written and verbal communication skills

-          Ability to work independently with limited direction and be a team player. 

-          Willingness to travel, up to 50% U.S.
