Defence Australia (BDA) is an integral part of the Boeing global organisation, employing approximately 1200 people at 13 sites around the country, primarily in support of high technology aerospace and communications systems for the Department of Defence.
We are currently seeking suitably qualified candidates for an "Apprentice - Aviation Painter" for our Integrated Logistics division based at RAAF Base Amberley.
This role undertakes Surface Finishing tasking activities in support of maintenance modification, manufacture and/or assembly activities on aircraft and aircraft components maintenance.

Essential Criteria

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Quality Assurance (QA) procedures and tool control

Be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Environment, Health and Safety procedures and practices
-
Identify and understand issues, problems or opportunities, using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing an appropriate solution in accordance with available facts, constraints or organizational goals

Ability to successfully interact with all employees, maintaining productive working relationships to meet team, business unit and organisational goals

High Professional Standards i.e. Attention to Detail, Self Motivated.
Desirable Criteria
-
Previous aviation industry experience
-
Having completed Cert 2 Aeroskills, or completion of equivalent Aeroskills MEA Core theory modules
-
Capable of obtaining a defence security clearance
-
2 years automotive or industrial painting experience
-
Previous experience in sign writing, layouts, vinyl cutting, sign marking, banners and digital print
-
Having a working knowledge in the use of Microsoft Desktops and Office packages
-
Having a working knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunities and Industrial Relations training
-
Having a working knowledge of computer based maintenance management systems
-
Having completed Applicable First Aid Training
-
Having completed an approved Confined Space Entry course
Due to the nature of the work you must be an Australian Citizen with a current Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain a Defence Security clearance.
