APQP Teeam Leader Job in Cambridgeshire, Anglia Uk

Reporting to the Supplier Quality Manager, you will be a member of the Global Purchasing team and be tasked with leading a team of 6, targeting proactive quality improvement using such tools as APQP, PPAP, 8D, Poke Yoke.

The organisation is chartered with building strategic supply relationships that deliver superior Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, Management (QCLDM). Specifically, the Supplier Quality organisation is chartered with delivering breakthrough improvements in supplier quality.

The Role:

Drive collaboration among design engineers, business unit Concurrent Product and Process Development (CPPD) Team Leaders, suppliers and Process Control Engineers for successful New Product Introduction (NPI), re-sourcing and execution of non-NPI design changes.

Provide coordination support during start-up NPI activities.

Accountability for robust, timely completion of all APQP steps by various internal and external personnel for purchased components and materials for each CPPD team.

Leading the team in addressing current product supplier quality issues, including the review approval of 8D corrective actions. Emphasis will be placed on step change improvement in supplier process controls to deliver world-class quality.

Attend NPI/CPPD meetings as the primary representative of Global Purchasing and for coordinating meetings among PCE, suppliers and engineering. Arranging joint development meetings between suppliers design engineering for early supplier engagement in Company designs. Ensures frequent collaboration to ensure design for manufacturability, quality and cost.

Manage and report applicable APQP quality metrics to CPPD team leader or NPI manager.

Coordinate process control engineers to ensure complete category and supplier coverage of APQP steps.

Provide properly timed coaching to CPPD teams regarding APQP tools and support processes.

Communicate PCE and supplier activities to NPI/CPPD teams.

Ensure that the Company provides suppliers with proper APQP inputs to plan for zero defects.

This is a high profile, fast paced and demanding role. Key factors for success in the role will be a confident and assertive style along with the ability to influence and drive collaboration cross functionally.

Ideal Requirements:

A background and previous experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering or Supplier Management (Engineered component suppliers).
Experience of working with castings (ferrous and non-ferrous).
Previous project management experience.
Previous experience of operating in a fast pace, complex multi sited business.
Experienced in commercial decision making.
Experience in execution of quality processes.
Knowledge and experience of APQP or working with suppliers in purchasing or logistics management.
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Desirable:
Previous team management experience.
Engineering or Manufacturing background - e.g. Product Engineering.
Experience in working with suppliers.
Experience of applying 8D process in a manufacturing environment.
