Architect / CADD Operator 

Description:

Support the BOS-1 and associated military tenants. Contractor will provide architectural advice, expertise and assistance with all architectural/engineering projects. Requires proficiency in the application of architectural design standards, practices, techniques, and concepts. Proficiency in CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with architectural design is also required, as well as demonstrated leadership capabilities and strong presentation skills. Perform other related tasks as required.

 

Responsibilities

 

·       Read and interpret construction documents.

·       Work independently and counsel staff.

·       Prepare written reports and technical memos.

·       Provide consultation to military, civilian and local nationals on task and project assignments from inception to completion.

·       Review and make recommendations on whether to approve construction documents.

·       Experience in reading and interpreting construction documents.

·       Ability to effectively communicate with contractors and to secure their cooperation.

·       Experience in project management techniques and principles that include budget, scope and schedule development, monitoring and implementation.

·       Work independently or with little supervision.

·       Experience in preparing written reports and technical memos.

·       Assist in the design and construction of a building, or group of buildings and the space adjacent to the buildings that have as their principal purpose human occupancy or use.

·       Provide pre-design services, programming, planning, providing designs drawings, specifications and other technical submissions, the administration of construction contracts and the co-ordination of any elements of technical submissions prepared by engineers and technical designers.

·       Have a thorough knowledge of National and International Building and Safety

·       Codes.

·       Investigate significant Afghan historic sites and provide recommendations and designs for restoration of such sites.

·       Ability to have predictable and reliable attendance.

·       Experience in the des1gnand alteration of residential, commercial and industrial facilities.

·       Provide consultation to military, civilian, and local nationals on task or project assignment from inception to completion.

·       Review and make recommends on whether to approve or show construction drawings

·       Have a working knowledge of building design, construction detailing, project drawing organization, construction material take-off and estimates, specifying material and products, working knowledge of building codes, AutoCAD and or Microstation drawing ability

·       Develop design alternatives, prepare for and participate in design presentations, develop/prepare design drawings and associated written documents, investigate alternatives and develop materials of construction

·       Plan/develop/prepare construction drawings and associated written documents, coordination with other members of the architectural team, coordination with other disciplines, develop in conjunction with specification writers portions or all project specific technical specifications; develop/prepare documentation in support of reviews with code officials.  

·       Assist in developing Pro Service estimates and progress status.

·       Review/approve shop drawings and vendor submittals, develop and prepare documentation associated with field based requests for information, review/approve work in the field, prepare and monitor punch lists

·       Support scheduling for the architectural design effort

·       Support for estimates of construction costs including material take-offs and cost opinions.

·       Provide cost saving design alternatives.

·       Works with the client, the contractor, other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to coordinate budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project.

·       Works with the key project and construction contractor individuals to monitor action plans to rectify potential construction cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work.  Advises the client and other team members of any such changes.  The Architect /CADD Operator is responsible to coordinate with the Contracts Management and Project Controls Groups and any client sub-contractors to maintain current and timely change orders.

·       Promotes technical and commercial excellence on the project through application of Quality Assurance processes.  Monitors and reports on the progress of all project activity including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule.  Establishes weekly meeting to review project status and formulate action items.

·       Reviews work produced to ensure that applicable codes, standards, and procedures are followed and that quality is acceptable.  Monitors productivity and technical proficiency of the assigned personnel.

·       Determines budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.

·       Ensures that architectural design work is coordinated with project staff and engineering disciplines by maintaining clear and frequent communication.

·       Advises project management regarding any problem areas, staffing requirements, delays in production, scope changes, or other events which could affect project completion and/or profitability.

·       Keeps abreast of current technologies.

·       Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

·       Knowledge of computer hardware and software programs, which may include

·       Microsoft Office, Auto CAD, Internet applications, econometric or transportation modeling, database management, or GIS

Qualifications:

 

 

·       BS or BA in Architecture at an accredited U.S. college or university

·       United States Architectural Registration required

·       Must be ACAD proficient

·       LEED Accredited Professional preferred

·       Minimum15 years professional experience in housing, industrial and commercial projects  or others of similar nature

·       Working knowledge of Federal building codes

 

 

 

Surveyor / CADD Operator

 

Description:

 

Take hand-drawn plans from architects engineers from multiple discipline (i.e. architectural, civil, mechanical electrical) and use AutoCAD to create presentable and accurate facility and infrastructure plans for concept and statement of work requirements for project execution. Reviews digital survey information, field notes and sketches to determine what the information1sindicating and required approach to create a comprehensive plan. Researches and locates existing map data (maps and other published information) to support creation of new plans. Reviews plans to determine what information must be incorporated into new plans to update information in current publications. Survey site conditions and obtain topography information for project incorporation to deal with site preparation, drainage and vertical structures.

 

Responsibilities:  

 

·       Interact affectively with architects, engineers and designers to quickly  and accurately update/correct or produce drawings during  the design  and construction process.

·       Coordinate document reproduction and distribution to customer, job site, and vendors.

·       Proficient in current release of AutoCAD and/or Micro station, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel.

·       Read and understand construction drawings.

·       Thorough understanding of and efficiency with industry accepted drafting standards.

·       Site surveying and field conditioning surveying aboard Camp Leatherneck.

 

Skills: 

 

·       Ability to work with mathematical and structural concepts.

·       Survey field conditions for incorporation into plans.

 

Qualifications: 

 

·       Five-plus years of AutoCAD and/or Micro station experience.

·       Minimum of four years experience in an architectural, engineering and construction industry.

·       Field surveying experience

·       High School Graduate (minimum)

·       Knowledge of AutoCAD and the AutoCAD suite of products is essential
