SUMMARY/GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Perform professional architectural design and job captain duties in support of the Registered Architect and/or Designer of Record (DOR) for design projects, construction projects, and facilities maintenance efforts for military / commercial / industrial / institutional sectors.

 



ESSENTIAL DUTIES JOB FUNCTIONS:

Works with the Registered Architect and/or Designer of Record on staff for assigned projects to ensure design requirements are being met in order to deliver a complete project, ready to advertise for construction contract award.

Assists in the development of design work for new construction, renovation, and improvement projects for real property facilities, utilizing a professional knowledge of architecture. Applies standard architectural theory and practices to design work of a conventional nature. Work requires the adaptation of standard architectural design practices on more complex features. Assists in preparation of drawings of existing conditions and design features. Assists in the develop of working drawings, including floor plans, interior and exterior elevations, sections, and scale and full size details of structures. Assists in the development of graphic analysis charts, diagrammatic sketches, tentative sketches, definitives, schematic outlines, or other architectural design criteria. Coordinates design phases with appropriate supervisors, managers and staff elements. Assists in the preparation of project time schedule and cost estimates. Maintains current architectural data for assigned projects.

Under the supervision and guidance of the Registered Architect and/or Designer of Record,  help with detailed technical reviews of projects prepared by outside AE firms and/or other design agents. Helps examine and analyze architectural drawings, plans, designs, specifications, cost estimates and exhibits for projects to ensure compliance with project requirements. Helps prepare technical review comments to be provided to the designers.

Assist in coordinating projects with engineers in other disciplines.

Keeps abreast of emerging technologies to ensure programmed development will not prematurely become obsolete.

In conjunction with the primary duty of design, on a less frequent basis, performs work in the support of construction management, programming/base development, and/or operations and maintenance (OM) functions.

Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.

Performs architectural design services to include professional creation of plans, specifications, product research, and supporting design calculations.

Performs other duties as assigned.
