Area Manager

JOB SUMMARY:
The Area Manager directs all Branch operations at respective location by promoting sales, customer service, safety, good housekeeping, inventory turns and overall operating efficiency.

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Responsible for Safety including promoting a safety culture, acting safety and ensuring compliance with all safety procedures and regulations.
* Coordinate the deployment of Field personnel, rental equipment and supplies
* Represents company safety product line to prospective and existing local and national customers. Explains products to customers, matching customer's needs with appropriate products. The products would include rental and sales of (but not be exclusive to), Breathing Air Systems, Respiratory Products, Gas Detection, Fall Protection, Equipment Calibration Testing, PFT Fit Testing, Safety Supervision, Safety Training, Rescue Teams, Industrial Hygiene and Personal Protective Equipment. Quotes prices and prepares sales and rental contracts for orders obtained. Coordinates delivery date to customer based on knowledge of production and delivery schedules.
* Manage the development of and effectively coach employees
* Keeps current with industry technical knowledge
* Specific goals will be set and performance on the job will be measured on sales and gross profit margins as compared to a mutually developed plan as well as new account development.
* Works safely and meets the requirements of all safety procedures and rules as prescribed by State, Federal, and the Company
* Calls on customers in the surrounding area markets in primarily to plants, contractors and oil field customers. In these customer segments calls would be made on, but not limited to, industrial hygienist, turnaround planners, plant managers, safety directors, consultants and drilling company employees.
* Increases sales and margin through penetration to assigned accounts and by closing new accounts.
* Demonstrates products and services and explains features of each product and service and emphasizes competitive advantages of Oilind products and services to potential customers
* Ensure that employees receive the required training and are competent in performing the assigned job.
* Schedule Service Activities are scheduled, completed and billed properly
* Ensure Maintenance and of Equipment, Vehicles and Trailers
* Oversees cash reports and charge tickets; verifies accuracy and ensures processing on a daily basis; responsible for maintaining accuracy of back order report, open order report and P.O. expedite report.
* Oversees employee training in areas including product knowledge; company policies, processes, and procedures; and safety; ensures that all associates are trained to perform critical branch functions.
* Performs periodic performance reviews of branch associates.
* Establishes and manages inventory levels for the branch.
* Serves as liaison between employees and management, providing performance advice and direction in conjunction with the Human Resources department and senior management.
* Oversees housekeeping, building and grounds maintenance.
* Maintains a safe work environment using S.T.O.P. techniques; organizes required monthly safety meetings and strictly enforces all company safety rules and regulations.
* Supports the outside sales force and order desk personnel as needed in servicing and obtaining new business.
* Ensures that the Air Production Meets all applicable codes and standards

SECONDARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Assist customers with equipment set-up, and demonstrate use as necessary.
* Ensure associate grievances are effectively handled.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
* Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
* Five years related experience, preferably selling into the Petrochemical Industry, Industrial Rigging, Building Contractors and/or training of the equivalent required
* Previous Safety Sales or Rental experience highly desired
* Proficient with Microsoft Office products
* Proven ability to work effectively under deadlines with little supervision and to complete a high volume of paperwork accurately and on time.
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations.
* Ability to write report, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other associates, managers, customers and the general public.
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, profit margin
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written, diagram or schedule form.
* Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

SKILLS ABILITIES:
* Must be able to promote teamwork and effectively work on a team
* Must demonstrate good customer service skills
* Must be willing and able to travel; this includes some overnight travel.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
* Must have a valid driver's license and proof of insurance

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment is subject to changes, however includes both refinery and shop environments, exposure to wet, humid, outside weather conditions and vibration; exposure to high pressure, chemicals, heavy machinery operations traffic. The noise level may be moderate to severe. Operations may be performed in extremely elevated work platforms, to include tightly fitted, enclosed and odorous atmospheres.
