Description Area (Piping) Construction Superintendent Aiken, SC PROJECT For more than 20 years, Parsons has supported the Department of Energy (DOE) at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina. Parsons is developing a conceptual design for a Salt Waste Processing Facility (SWPF) to process highly radioactive liquid wastes currently stored in large underground tanks. Salt wastes account for about 34 of the 37 million gallons of radioactive waste at Savannah River. The SWPF continues Parsons full-service support for first-of-a-kind process facilities to solve our nation's most complex waste issues. NEED Parsons is seeking a Area (Piping) Construction Superintendent for their Aiken, South Carolina location to support the SWPF project. Successful candidate will plan, organize, and supervise specific portions of construction work for an assigned area of a construction project including Mechanical and Piping systems . Candidate will also schedule major construction tasks, engage the services of local subcontractors (including the authorization of overtime and the approval of payment) and coordinate the activities of craft supervisors, foremen, and subcontractors. Incumbent will be responsible for ensuring continuity of job progress and maximizing efficiencies related to the assigned area. Incumbent will serves as the primary point of contact with the client and the subcontractors. Willingness to relocate to construction site locations and work overtime and non standard work hours is expected. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES : Makes recommendations and participates in the planning of construction operations and makes decisions on manpower requirements and the type and size of equipment to be used. Plans the sequence and number of construction activities to be placed in progress in the operational program. Supervises the daily activities of craft supervisors, foremen, and subcontractors. This includes supervising, directing, and designating work assignments. Maintains surveillance of labor performance, manpower allocation, and effective use of tools and equipment. Ensures the use of sound construction practices to attain required quality control at the maximum efficiency and minimum cost. Monitors subcontractor operations including enforcement of all contractual obligations. Initiates and obtains acceptance of appropriate back charges to subcontractors. Supervise direct hire craft on fabrication and installation of piping materials on large NQA1/nuclear construction project and or a NQA1/nuclear fabrication shop environment. Interface with piping engineers and ensure current revision documents are utilized for fabrication/installation. Understands and applies the company labor relations policies,and performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate. Qualifications REQUIREMENTS 4-year degree in construction-related field (or equivalent Mechanical/Piping construction-related work experience), as well as 10 to 12 years of experience in Mechanical field construction is required. Experience in the construction of large mechanical/ civil/structural and/or industrial projects at domestic and/or foreign locations is preferred. Candidates with experience in supervising direct hire craft performing installation of piping materials on heavy construction project. Also, Supervision experience at Savannah River Site (DOE) or other DOE/nuclear facilities is a plus. Incumbents with experience supervising direct hire craft, performing piping fabrication and welding in a nuclear/NQA1 fabrication shop environment is desired. Also, Certified Welders and/or Pipefitters with past or current experience is a plus. Excellent communication skills coupled with a strong technical background and/or craft experience in all piping materials, installation methods, and relevant code, specification and procedures is required. Also, comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes including pipe and pipe support installation and working knowledge of industry practices and proven leadership capability is required.
