Description:
Ideal candidate will have 5+ years outside sales experience calling on ship owners, shipyards, and in the Offshore Oil Gas Sector (preferably in Marine Electronics), and a Bachelor’s degree in sales and marketing or related field.
Should have excellent written and verbal communications skills and proven ability to meet forecasted revenue targets.
Compensation and Regional Coverage Responsibility:
Ideal compensation Client is $65-$70K base, with commission of 1% of total revenue, paid quarterly (estimated $10-$15K in the first year). Territory would include entire Texas Gulf Coast. Approximately 20% overnight Travel.
Position is based in Houston. The Area Sales Manager is responsible for the achievement of the sales budget at targeted gross margin levels in the assigned regions and markets. He/she successfully develops long-term customer relationships, in order to grow sales turnover and expand market share.
The Area Sales Manager teams with the Regional Manager responsible for the service business in the region, and supports the development of service opportunities.
- Achieve the assigned sales budget in the assigned regions and/or market segments, overall at or above targeted gross margin levels
- Represent the company to existing and new customers; serve as the liaison between the customer and the company
- Develop long term relationships with new customers, in order to expand the company's customer base, to grow sales and expand market share.
- Support the Regional Manager responsible for the service business in the respective region in order to create opportunities to develop service in the area.
- Maintain contact with customers on a daily basis via telephone, direct customer visits and other means, in order to develop long term relationships
- Submit requests for quotation by the customer to the Sales Support Department as required
- Upon presentation of quote to the customer, follow up consistently in order to ensure our quotation meets the customer’s needs and expectations, update quotes as required to increase the chance of the company to win the business
- Ensure credit applications for new customers are submitted to the Credit and Collections Department; support the collection of open invoices
- Support the company's participation in trade shows as required
- Enter data as required into the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
- Provide input to National Sales Manager regarding trends and developments in the market
- Support the development of sales forecasts for the area
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Sales and Marketing or related field or equivalent work experience in a Sales function, preferable in the Electronics or Marine Industry
- Self motivated personality, track record of consistently achieving or exceeding goals and targets
- Advanced level of negotiation skills
- Strong capability to establish and maintain customer relationships on a professional level
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to express him/herself verbally and in writing
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain a TWIC card must maintain a clear driving record and a valid driver’s license
- Experience within an organization in a global environment is a benefit.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)
Submit quotations to customers in accordance with the Quote Approval Process established by the company
Make general approvals as may be required in compliance with Company Signature Authority Policy
