Position Description:
SunGard Global Services combines business consulting, technology and professional services for financial services firms, energy companies and corporations. Leveraging SunGard's global delivery model, more than 5,000 employees worldwide help customers manage their complex data needs, optimize end-to-end business processes and assist with systems integration, while providing full application development, maintenance, testing and support services.
Job Overview:
SunGard is seeking a senior finance executive to oversee the financial functions of the Asia operations. This position is the key fiduciary in the region and will actively support an increasing number of complex financial, processes. The Regional Controller is responsible for re-engineering and realigning processes and teams to obtain global standards.

The Asia operations includes activities in over 12 countries, activities by over 50 business units or segments and over 2,000 employees. The operations are supported by finance teams in ANZ, Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Shanghai as well as Corporate Shared Service Centers. The success of this position depends on effectively managing the finance teams and efficiently coordinating with the SSC and Financial counterparts in the US and Europe.

The Controller will partner with local business leaders and assist local finance staff in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting and coordination with SunGard Shared Service Centres. The position will participate in contract negotiations and revenue recognition reviews.

Duties and Responsibilities:

General
* Manage and develop local finance teams
* Constantly review the existing finance organization and determine opportunities for improvement including consolidation and simplification of back office operations
* Champion compliance with local laws and company policy.
* Responsible for managing the entire financial process including: budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting for the monthly/quarterly/annual close process s - identify PL, Balance Sheet, CapEx, and headcount issues throughout the group.
* Work closely with Legal and Corporate Compliance as required.
* Coordinate Sarbanes-Oxley quarterly testing, disclosure and management certification process.
* Coordinate and support US and European based businesses operating in Asia.

Business Support
* Drive business growth by being a strategic business partner to Regional business leaders.
* Prepare key operations reviews to highlight financial updates, metrics, and scenarios for senior management to present at strategic meetings.
* Manage and coordinate the presentation of forecasts and results. Integrate regional budgets, forecasts and results with other International Distribution regions to allow a complete view of company operations in developing markets
* Manage results presentation to Segment, Division Corporate management as well as external auditors (PwC), with detailed quarterly analysis provided as part of the internal control process.
* Primary decision maker on group software revenue recognition issues in accordance with US GAAP.
* Manage the Executive Incentive Compensation process in coordination with Group HR.

Country and operational management
* Special attention to intercompany balance management and timely settlement thereof
* Country and regional FX management and collaboration with Corporate Treasury on management thereof
* Review all transfer pricing arrangements, working with the statutory and tax teams
* Provide visibility on all customer contracts including revenue by country, imaging and inventory of all contracts
* Work with SunGard Tax and Treasury departments to drive country initiatives

Projects
* Supervise acquisition process from a finance perspective, as required. Participate in acquisition due diligence and post purchase integration.
* Financial modeling and scenario analysis as required, including acquisitions and join ventures
* Country finance oversight and participation in deploying HR information system
* Ad hoc projects and reporting as required

Position Requirements:
Knowledge/Experience:

Essential Experience Required;
* Relevant experience in financial control, shared services (and its increased adoption), process and team re-engineering and corporate reporting
* No less than 10 years of relevant professional experience
* Understanding business drivers and able to integrate business drivers with financial results.
* Experience working across multi-functional groups within a matrix organization
* Prior work experience in multinational corporation in Asia, preferably with a US parent company

Desirable Experience Required;
* Prior experience with software revenue recognition and US GAAP accounting rules
* Country controller or Audit role
* Consolidation role

Skills:

Essential Skills Required;
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and related MS Office tools
* Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS
* Must be able to interpret, present and explain complex accounting issues to various internal business contacts
* Understanding of how to approach new business opportunities, including establishing a business in a foreign jurisdictions in compliance with local law, building a business case to help Senior Management bring new products to market, analyze appropriate resources needed for existing and new investments, etc

Desirable Skills Required;
* Audit planning, entity optimisation
* Knowledge of accounting systems (Sun Accounts)
* Deployment of SAP (project manager, key user)

Qualifications:

* Degree in finance, accounting and/or business administration
* Professional Accounting qualification (Chartered Accountant or equivalent)
* Broad financial experience, preferably as the leader of a finance organization
* 5-10 years recent experience in similar role ideally with a US software company
