Overview
The Asset Allocation group encompasses two major areas: strategic and tactical asset allocation. The strategic team researches long-term asset allocation themes, including capital market expectations and issues of overall portfolio structure, in order to assist clients with long-term strategy and policy issues. The strategic team is also responsible for developing multi-asset class solutions to meet particular risk and return objectives for prospects and clients and for monitoring and adapting these solutions to address the changing capital market environment.
The Asset Allocation Strategies Group has an open position for a Strategic Asset Allocation Analyst in Boston, reporting to the Associate Director, Asset Allocation Strategies Group. This individual would spend a significant portion of their time assisting in the development and delivery of high quality investment content for a major subadvisory client and strategic partner of the firm, in partnership with our Global Investment Strategist, various investment teams, and members of the Global Relationship Group. The individual will also spend a portion of their time on analytical work to support investment policy recommendations and analysis of new investment strategies for other clients and prospects.
Responsibilities
Investment content creation and delivery for strategic client:
Working with the Global Investment Strategist, the Analyst will develop a deep understanding of the client's long term objectives and strategic plan, and deliver investment content across products and markets, with the goals of growing or preserving assets, enhancing the client's and their advisor community's investment knowledge, and strengthening the client's reputation in the marketplace as a mutual fund company of choice.
Responsibilities include:
•Accessing and synthesizing investment content from various sources across the firm, including the investor Morning Meetings, research notes, emails, strategy meetings and published white papers and postcards
• Creating new content relevant specifically to the financial advisor community, which may include fund flows analysis, as an example
•Assisting in the development of weekly and monthly strategy papers and other media intended for broad external consumption, using quantitative as well as qualitative inputs
•Crafting draft answers to ad hoc client questions on topical developments in capital markets with quick turnaround times
Broader analytical responsibilities:
•Researching and understanding fundamental characteristics of major asset classes and WMC products
•Working with returns databases and performing statistical analyses, and model building for asset mixes
•Analytical support for strategic asset allocation studies and bespoke client and market research
Qualifications: Candidates should have the following skills:
•Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
•Intellectual curiosity and passion for investment topics
•A high degree of investment knowledge across investment styles and asset classes, and interest in capital markets.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. A writing sample and/or case study will be required.
• Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
•Strong analytical, quantitative and modeling skills
•Thorough familiarity with advanced functions in Excel
•Attention to detail, creativity, thoroughness and the ability to synthesize and prioritize information
•Ability to work well independently, and establish partnerships within/across functions
•Sound business judgment
•CFA or progress toward the designation preferred
