Wellington Management is one of the largest private investment management firms. The company is headquartered in Boston with ten affiliate offices in the United States and around the world. With approximately $650 billion in assets under management, Wellington manages US, international and global equity, fixed income and multi-asset portfolios for institutional clients and mutual fund sponsors in 43 countries.

Overview

The Asset Allocation Strategies Group is looking for a senior strategist to be based in Singapore. This will involve working closely with our clients as well as with the Asset Allocation Strategy group to develop and implement investment solutions for clients. Examples of issues we would expect the strategist to be involved in include:

• Building and managing multi-asset products and solutions to meet client needs
• Helping design and implement asset/liability driven investment solutions
• Communicating and discuss the implications the firm's key capital market and investment themes with clients, particularly as they relate to the development of the clients investment strategy
• Educating clients on issues such as transportable alpha strategies, asset/liability management, long-short investing, emerging markets investing, commodities investing, swaps

Experience

• A thorough understanding of strategic asset allocation issues for pension, insurance, and endowment clients, including a firm understanding of liability related and regulatory issues
• Prior experience as an investment manager or as an investment consultant
• An articulate communicator of often complex investment ideas
• This role will involve a significant amount of client contact and a reasonable amount of public speaking
• A creative and flexible thinker with an entrepreneurial nature
• An important part of the role will be to participate in the product design and development process for clients
• As Wellington has investment capabilities in all publicly traded asset classes, and numerous different investment approaches with each of these asset classes (ranging from fundamental to quantitative to technical, from long only to market neutral to hedge funds), a fundamental understanding of all publicly traded asset classes and typical investment strategies used by managers in those asset classes is critical, including: developed and emerging market equities, developed and emerging debt, asset allocation, commodities, hedge funds, and currency
• Be committed to understanding the very rich but complex set of investment strategies offered by the firm

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following:

• Minimum 10 years investment experience in investment management, asset consulting, or as a plan sponsor
• Broad understanding of global investment markets and an ability to discuss technical topics in concise terms
• Develop effective working relationships with external clients and prospects as well with other functional groups across Wellington
• History of academic achievement, with an advanced degree in economics, finance, or an MBA
• Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to work in a team oriented environment
