As an Asset Availability Leader, your role is to achieve target asset availability for the various production processes at La Porte. This will be accomplished by continuing the implementation of modern Mechanical Integrity and Reliability Centered Maintenance programs to optimize equipment availability and minimize unplanned unit downtime.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform a wide variety of engineering tasks to ensure that assets are available and ready to be put to their designed or intended use
- Participate in the production planning of a business unit to ensure that resources for reliability engineering programs are being allocated
- Prepare and manage the reliability program plans
- Evaluate the reliability potential of alternative designs, processes or methods
- Ensure that all components in a design will operate/ function as they are designed or intended
- Formulate and run tests on systems, subsystems and individual components
- Provide information to operations and maintenance on how to improve both the life of a system and its ease of maintenance
- Investigate user complaints and reliability losses. Manage programs to ensure that information about reliability loss is timely, accurate, well organized, and communicated
- Monitor equipment reliability measures and establish additional measures as needed to insure continued safe and efficient operation
- Work with cross-functional teams to conduct reliability centered maintenance analysis on equipment
- Lead/Determine the best maintenance strategies for the Plant facilities, and initiate design changes to improve equipment reliability, including predictive, preventive and refurbishment tasks required during a Plant outage
- Ensure that scopes of work developed for Preventive/Predictive Maintenance (PMs), including reliability improvements, are included in the turnaround planning process
- Maintain accountability for the development of the turnaround scope. Establish and implement a scope review process to assure that the entire scope for the current turnaround is appropriate to be completed.
- Use Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint ) products in daily activities such as using Excel to create and modify spreadsheets using functions, filters and graphs to analyze data, using PowerPoint to prepare and deliver presentations, including detailed flowcharts, and using Word to create and edit documents and prepare reports and tables
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical or Chemical Engineering with minimum of 2 years experience in operations, maintenance, engineering or other technical support experience OR High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years experience in chemical or refinery plant operations, maintenance, engineering, or other technical support experience
- Experience regarding reliability based maintenance and operations
- Experience using Root Cause Analysis and Reliability Centered Maintenance tools
- Experience with PC-based applications (MS Word – document creation/editing, Excel – spreadsheet creation/editing, data entry and analysis, and PowerPoint – presentation creation/editing)
