Senior Client Portfolio Manager (CPM) in the Fixed Income department of J.P.Morgan Asset Management (London) roles is to develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the firm's fixed income products, processes and strategies.
The primary focus will be the Global and European Investment Grade fixed income products.
CPMs have a number of roles but they can be reduced to 3 main areas:Winning new business - Internal and external marketing, RFPs, new business pitches, consultant meetings.Product management - Thorough knowledge of relevant products, processes and strategies,
develop and maintain Marketing materials, rfp language, training other CPMs to sell specific products, designing appropriate fund ranges, knowing the marketplace and competitorsManaging existing client portfolios - Being the client's representative to ensure that portfolios are managed in the best interests of the client, working with Client Advisors, Client Account Management, the alpha Portfolio Managers, the IDR and other teams to manage and retain the portfolioBe the client's representative to ensure that the portfolio is managed in the best interests of the client.
Take ownership of this role to make sure we are always
effective
in the management of the portfolio.
The broad scope of this goal means that it is difficult to list specific
tasks, more the aim is that the CPMs take ownership of the role.
However, some specific
tasks are:At portfolio set up, make sure that the guidelines are clear and consistent with the return target or objective and resolve any ambiguities prior to funding.
Work with the client, Client Account Management, Portfolio Managers and Risk to achieve thisWhen guideline changes are received, make sure the process is clear by handing over responsibility to Client Account Management to check authorised signatures etc and process the changes.
Check with the Portfolio Managers that the changes have been implemented. Raise issues if the changes impair our ability to comply with (a).Supervise monthly and quarterly reporting to the clientAnswer add hoc client
requestsAt the IDR, check that management of the portfolio matches client goals. If not, identify remedial action.Supervise portfolio reviews held on a regular basis with clientsAgree with the Investment Director and Portfolio Manager the appropriate alpha and tracking error targets and implicit aggressiveness to be taken with the account.
Following any client communication or guideline change, determine whether these targets should be changed.Provide feedback from client meetings to the Portfolio Manager on any competitor information or performance

Qualifications

Strong educational background, with a preference for CFA holders.
Analytical skills.
Advanced fixed income knowledge.Industry experience, with a strong preference for portfolio management experience with a recognised fixed income manager.The ability to communicate complex material in a clear and concise manner.A passion for the building of the fixed income business.Strong interpersonal, communication and presentational skills.
