Malcolm Pirnie/ARCADIS is seeking experienced Asset Management Consultants and Senior Consultants for our Red Oak Consulting division. The Consultant / Senior Consultant will play a senior project delivery role in a variety of asset management consulting engagements with our municipal, federal, and industrial clients. Candidates should be experienced with technical delivery of asset management projects for the water, wastewater and/or power utility industry.
Candidates should have a comprehensive understanding of industry accepted asset management tools and techniques including asset inventory, condition and criticality assessments, life-cycle cost analysis, OM programs, as well as capital investment planning. Candidates should also be experienced with the development of service levels, performance measures, and business process improvement initiatives. Candidates are expected to have a broad understanding of best practices in asset management. Understanding of asset management information technology and data needs including computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) geographic information systems (GIS) is a plus. Engineering water and wastewater design or master planning experience is also desirable.
Although consultants will have a primary focus on asset management engagements, they can be expected to participate in other management consulting related projects which may include organizational assessments, performance improvement, financial studies, and/or strategic business planning.
This individual will work primarily with regional and national staff within the Red Oak Consulting business unit. In addition to the delivery of client engagements, candidates will also be expected to participate in and support regional marketing and sales activities within our municipal utility client base.

Duties and Responsibilities
Consultants and Senior Consultants will have the opportunity to work on a variety of consulting engagements within the Asset Management practice. Examples of the types of projects that the position will support include: condition assessments of public utility assets, rehabilitation and renewal planning, financial planning and support for overall water and wastewater master planning – including demand forecasting and capacity modeling. The position will also include involvement in other management consulting and engineering and planning services. Specific responsibilities include:
- Support delivery of asset management projects to municipal water and wastewater clients.
- Management of small to mid-sized consulting projects including work planning, scheduling, and cost tracking.
- Support asset management business development, sales, and marketing efforts.
- Contribute to the development of asset management service offerings and project delivery methodology.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree: Required
- B.S. in Engineering, Business, Economics, or Related Field from a top-tier university
- M.S. in Engineering, M.B.A., or M.P.A. a plus
- Professional Engineering Certification is desirable
Experience and Qualifications
- 5+ years of asset management or water and/or utility consulting and engineering experience. Previous consulting delivery experience with an environmental engineering or management consulting firm or equivalent experience with a large municipal utility.
- Understanding of water and wastewater process equipment, distribution and collection system assets.
- Understanding of industry accepted asset management tools and techniques including asset inventory, condition and criticality assessments, life-cycle cost analysis, OM programs, as well as capital investment planning.
- Demonstrated project delivery experience including budget and schedule monitoring and control responsibilities. Familiarity with formal project management and delivery tools, methodologies, and processes.
- Experience with the development of project proposals and work scopes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation. Strong ability to express technical concepts effectively. Proven interpersonal and client relationship skills.
- Ability and desire to work on multiple, unique assignments simultaneously is required with strong organizational, analytical and problem solving skills.
- Self-motivated and flexible individual with the ability to tackle new projects, challenges, and concepts.
- Open to travel for client assignments as required. Ability to travel up to 50% within the U.S.
