BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEW
Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) is the investment management arm providing global investment opportunities to a substantial and diversified client base including institutions, governments and high net worth individuals. GSAM has become one of the pre-eminent investment management organizations globally, with responsibility for over $700bn assets under management. Critical to the success of GSAM is our ability to leverage a global team of talented professionals to define solutions and lead change across the operational infrastructure. GSAM Operations is part of the Operations, Technology and Finance (OTF) division of Goldman Sachs and comprises 550 professionals based in 5 centers across the globe. It consists of three broad functional areas, Trade Management, Portfolio Control Analysis and Investment Services Group, all of which working in a dynamic environment where control, client service and excellence in execution are fundamental principles.
The GHAM China Operations Team has primary responsibility for all aspects of trade flow, settlement risk management and counterparty liaison, plus primary responsibility for all aspects of portfolio control, accounting, cash management and client reporting. The group will have extensive interaction with internal and external parties both to ensure effective oversight for existing business but also to shape and implement solutions for new products, strategies and systems. The team supports Portfolio Managers and Traders, Sales and Marketing and Client Relationship professionals by providing accurate and timely account information. The successful candidate will join the team in Beijing, with a focus to ensure the accuracy and quality of work and appropriately escalate any unresolved issues to senior management.

RESPONSIBILIITES
The successful candidate will be responsible for solving problems for complex market and settlement issues; liaising with traders and brokers to ensure efficient settlement of trading activity; process analysis to improve control, scalability and efficiency; providing project management leadership and/or support for new and existing products, with an emphasis on co-operation with Information Technology for the development and enhancement of processes and systems. The group will also deal with a wide range of clients and a complex product range covering equities, fixed income, currency and derivatives. The candidate must have the ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve problems, as well as have excellent communication skills in Mandarin English. The candidate will also need to manage relationships at different levels in the organization as well as show leadership, coupled with strategic thinking when implementing efficiencies and controls. A risk mindset is essential for this role considering the focus on Operational risk and this coupled with strong management skills are expected to be the successful candidate.
Specifically the responsibilities of the role will involve:
•Management of projects related to new product launches and business development.
•Design of system flows and production processes to conduct trade flows in an efficient and controlled-manner.
•Organize and oversee testing of new functionality and infrastructure builds.
•Maintain a keen eye towards process improvement to enhance existing systems and processes.
In addition to the above key responsibilities, the candidate may also be asked to perform the following:
•Oversee and manage the processing, controlling, confirming and settling the firm’s and our client’s transactions to a high quality standard as well as internally generated transactions necessary to conduct business.
•Perform operational controls across both firm and client portfolios including reconciliation, cash management and issue resolution.
•Manage Client reporting and query resolution (both internal and external clients).
•Document process flows and creating procedure manuals for the function performed.
•Contribute to the development of the methods to improve processes, reduce risks, increase controls, and / or increase customer satisfaction.
•Share knowledge of processes and systems with new analysts.

PREFERRED SKILLS
•Experience in team and people management a plus.
•Possesses a good understanding of client types, relevant markets, products, processes, regulations and systems required to achieve business objectives.
•In-depth knowledge of local products, regulations, and practices.
•Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of operational risk and controls that underlie trade processing.

QUALIFICATIONS
•Minimum of 2-3 years asset management experience or similar financial, accounting or consulting background.
•Experience managing cross-functional projects, including support of new business and infrastructure development efforts
•Excellent spoken and written English, Mandarin.
•SAC Qualified or ability to acquire within a short period of hiring
