The Air Conditioning Systems and Services business of Ingersoll Rand provides heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems that enhance the quality and comfort of the air in homes and buildings around the world. Its offerings, under the Trane and American Standard Heating Air Conditioning brands, include energy efficient systems, service and parts support and advanced building controls.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Chief engineer to join our Central Plant team in Torrance, CA. Responsibilities: • Maintain HVAC and Electrical systems that supply buildings with air conditioning, heat, ventilation, refrigeration and power. • Operate, monitor and acknowledge all Building Automation System functions. • Utilize customer work order system to complete Work Orders and Preventative Maintenance. • Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays and weekends, holidays and OT as required to cover 24/7 operation.
This position requires you to work Tuesday thru Sunday First Shift (7am to 3pm)• Distinguish problems and anomalies from normal operating parameters. • Maintain facility Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning equipment and systems to include ALL Central Plant equipment including chillers and boilers, towers and pumps • Coordinate building and emergency personnel during emergency conditions. • Inspect, operate, and maintain various control systems throughout the campus. • Perform building rounds, test run emergency generator, • Familiar with Co-Generation equipment. • Manage and support contractors and vendors through completion of projects and repairs • Maintain office paper work, files, invoice and reconcile vendor billing / purchase orders discrepancies. • Order parts and supplies for projects and inventory • Remain informed of safety and code changes through attending seminars and other educational means • Develop maintenance, emergency and inspection procedures for team to follow • Enhance customer relations and services • Insure a high quality workmanship on all work performed by staff and Vendors • Follow all safety procedures and maintain clean work areas • Carry a cell phone for rapid response to all facility needs • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards • Committed to working in a quality team environment which includes assisting other trades and cross training • Monitor, operate, troubleshoot and repair building systems and equipment including JCI and Tracer Summit building automation systems • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned • Respond effectively to all emergencies • Repair DDC controls • Troubleshooting, repairing, and changing out motors to 480V - single and 3-phase • May work with and clean up Hazmat spills:
• Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience • Must have a current Los Angeles Unlimited Steam license • Universal CFC recovery certificate • Must possess valid Driver’s License, in accordance with company vehicle policy, for work that requires local travel to other facilities • Understand chillers and boiler operations with an ability to rebuild and replace condenser/chilled water pumps • Understand and troubleshoot build up systems • Ability to size ductwork and VAV’s for proper air distribution • Ability to understand and update blueprints
