Posted Position Title: Assistant Controller Career Level: Experienced Function Finance Function Segment: Controllership Location: United States U.S. State, China or Canada Provinces: Connecticut City: Norwalk Postal Code: 06851-1056 Relocation Assistance No Role Summary/Purpose: Leads controllership team accounting function(s) that normally include monthly and quarterly close process, preparation of financial and management reports and procedures. The position will work closely with the GE Equity business account managers, Genpact, Technical Accounting Group and Capital Americas HQ Controllership team. This will be a support role to the GE Equity controller. Essential Responsibilities - Reviews and assists in Monthly and Quarterly Balance Sheet Analysis Schedules prepared by Team. - Ensures proper business controls, including general ledger accounting activities and multiple platform interfaces. - Provides operational accounting support to the business on deals / transactions, including assisting with technical accounting and integration issues. Drives automation initiatives across all platforms. - Facilitates successful execution of monthly and quarterly closes by reviewing financial statements prepared by staff (consolidated and unconsolidated entities) and implementing process improvements as needed. Prepares and presents quarterly balance sheet analysis. - Ensure all accounts are reconciled in accordance with criteria. Drive simplification efforts around reconciliations. - Design, implement, document, and test internal controls for financial and accounting processes, as required by Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. - Proactively serve as finance partner to Equity Account Managers to help with exposure analysis and Valuations in line with FAS 157 policy - Ensure consistency across GECA platforms for all equity reporting, valuations and impairment reviews by designing and operationalizing processes - Support VIE reporting to Capital Americas HQ in accordance with FAS 167 standards - Serve as controllership review/approval of new deals, exits and modifications Qualifications/Requirements: Basic Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. - Minimum of 4 years of Accounting experience - Knowledge and experience with financial systems.
